Brothers--I am NOT trying to play the big-shot or embarrass anyone else but am sending Brother Santa's Bro another $100 donation--to use any way he sees fit. Need is need. and the Cruz Roja's is immediate.

P. S. I thought about it again and threw in another $25 for that valiant policeman's family. Haven't heard much about that recently. If that ain't happenin', put it into the General Orphanage/ Cruz Roja Fund. Again, that's just me...

Hey JazzboCR,

No big shot thought here! Challenging the membership to donate to this worthy cause is the right thing to do. I'm new to this board, but not new to the hobbie or to message boards and if I can help then the rest can as well. Hell, $10 bucks! $20, what ever you can do.

Well , it's good to see that nobody has a problem with us moving on from the original plan. No need to feel bad for the orphanage. We took them a few large boxes of supplies last year , so it's not like they didn't get anything. I have been there on four different occasions myself and it just didn't seem like we were going to get the information we needed to help them with the building next door.
There are too many other worthy causes for us to be involved in to have to be put on hold for any period of time IMHO. I hope our members continue to help out any way they can. There is no reason why this should ever come to an end.
SB, sorry I missed you this trip my friend. Lets talk this week if you have the time.

I have given a week for responses, and there seems to be no one that has a problem with donating to the Red Cross Earthquake Relief in Costa Rica.

I am in the initial process of determining how to move the funds from the PayPal account to the Red Cross. Hopefully it should not take long.

My last question, do I give all the funds in the account and close it out, or do I leave some money in it for future endeavors? If you have donated to the account I would like your input.

My heartfelt thanks to all that have given in this effort.

Health & happiness....

There was information in this mornings AM Costa Rica how to donate money to the Red Cross. Note that Western Union is offering wire transfers at NO FEE.

Quote:
The most secure way to donate, however, remains Banco de Costa Rica (91100-3 colons and 118281-1 dollars) and Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (colons 100-01-000-100100-7, and dollars 100-02-000-068666-7). Transfers can be made online. Those outside of the country can make a wire transfer to the accounts or sign on to the Cruz Roja Web page where one link allows donations by credit card from anywhere in the world, the Cruz Roja said. Those accounts are 100100-7 (colons) and 68666-7 (dollars), both at Banco Nacional.

Western Union, which has donated $50,000 to earthquake relief, has setup a program to allow foreigners to donate to the Cruz Roja without cost. The company will accept donations of up to $1,000 each, and those making the donation should specify EARTHQUAKERELIEF CR. In Costa Rica the code word is AYUDATERREMOTO CR.

Personally, I made my donation without recourse, which means giving up how it's directed. However it might be wise to keep a small "account holder" amount in the bank, mainly to avoid having to go through all that if a future need arises and the fund regenerated. Enough so the inevitable bank fees don't nibble it to zero. Just my feeling...

I'm with JazzboCR. Santas Bro, you got my proxy on my donation. I haven't been here long enough or spent enough time in Costa Rica to have an opinion.

Thanks for taking the time to put the fund together.

Thanks for the replies. I think after PayPal takes the initial 3 percent there are no further fees.

Leaving a small amount ($50.00) was something that I was thinking about.

As always I am interested in doing right by all of our hard earned money.

Is it possible to kick a few bucks (if needed) for BB57's new eyes
IMHO this is what this fund should do.
I have said this before a small donation to the current problems recent examples COP GETS SHOT Some privaty donated.THE EARTHQUAKE did we help out?
There shoud be a fund for such cases
Now that I opened my fat mouth I will end up running said fund
Well if that needs to happen so be it
Like I said small donations not the mother load
Not busting the orphanage great idea
my dos cents

I think this thread should stay focused on the Orphanage and Red Cross and charities directed towards Costa Rica only.

Perhaps a new thread could be started by Nhhank for aid to CRT brothers in need or who we venerate or are grateful too or are otherwise appreciated.

Just IMHO.

Regards.

So far $50.00 to policeman; $100.00 to school uniforms, $350.00 to earthquake, from $500.00 cash I handed to a CRT member. This was $250.00 from me, and $250.00 from CRT member who sent me a check.

Once that the fund for BB57 has reached over $1,100.00 (which PR says it will be soon), the money will be then sent to the earthquake fund. BB57 did not want this money used for him, but needed a "loan" to ensure that the procedure could go on as scheduled. That has happened with the help of Phoenix Rising & Orange. My personal thanks to both of them who were instrumental in making this happen.

I'm not sure of the balance, since I am at work and don't have my PayPal access information, but the balance will be used for CR related items. I will post the balance when I can access PayPal, hopefully tonight.

Thanks to all who have given.

The current balance is $2,040.09.

After the $1,100.00 "loan" is sent to Red Cross, we will have donated $1,600.00 to date.

We have also had three additional donations this year. Thank you very much for that.

Health & happiness to all....

We are in the final stages of donating the balance of the money to the CR earthquake through the Cruz Roja. Thank you ID for the link.

One of the questions that they ask is the name of the donor. Most have written that they did not want the CRT name to be mentioned when it was intended towards Ch*ldren. Now that it is being donated to the earthquake fund would you like to have the name CRT some how be used, with Admin1's approval, of course.

What name would you like to see for the donation?

All who have donated, I give my heart felt thanks. For those that had questions about me, and my intentions about the fund, I also thank you. It made me look into myself, and for that I am a better man.

We will have helped many people with your generous gifts.

Health & happiness to all....
