The Colonial is a dump. The odds are the same wherever you go, except there. The employees have a hard time with common math. The drinks are bad and the service is bad.

Yes, I have gambled there. That is why I know what it is.

Horseshoe is much better on all counts. If you like playing with tico's who do not know how to bet, throw the dice off the table more than on the table and have a pit boss who cannot fathom 15 to one odds, then you know you are in a bad place.

It would be just like certain people on the Board to go on the Ugly American rant. As if they are above it because they live in a hovel in the Amon district.

Gambling is how I fill my time between chicas. I spend hours at the poker table every trip. Maybe I could go see, I dunno, nature or something next time.

Maybe it is me...but I consider poker to be a way different form of gambling. Other than the rake, you are playing the other players, so you could gain some advantage with skill.

Even money BJ..no thanks! Slot machines...you have to be kidding me right? At least in Vegas, AC, the Bahamas, and the various Indian casinos I FEEL like the games are "fair". Whether they really are...is for discussion somewhere else at another time.

Just my dos colones, do whatever makes you happy. :D And before the posts start about "winning all the time" in CR, realize that I know the only people that lie more than mongers....are gamblers!

Ugly tourists abound everywhere you may travel.

Drunk Germans molesting French teenage girls... I've witnessed it. Pissed off israeli travelers in Vegas...been there. Whining gringas? Forget about it.

Having myself acted the part of royal as$hole, I know how to recognize them when I travel. Sometimes you can avoid them; other times, their behavior will have a negative impact on your good time.

When that happens, a polite but firm word *usually* won't lead to a physical altercation. However, you can minimize the number of times a fight starts simply by being respectful. YMWV, especially if there's dr*gs or alcohol involved.

what i try and do now, since i'm older and cannot afford any broken bones or bruised body parts, is i try and outwait them and then in a loud voice after they have left, "God, Canadians surely don't know how to act in Public". and that's my 2 cents worth.....

Tstef527-Good call I was not refering to poker.I will try to be more specific next time.Table games are when you are playing against the house.Poker your playing against other players and the game is being raked. Most poker games in vegas now have automatic shufflers as an added precaution.

I have won quite a bit more than I lost playing blackjack on the machines in Del Rey.Also did well on the slots at Horseshoe. For the most part in CR is you know basic strategy, the machines made by Game King are more loose than the version available in the US.Definately more loose than some of my favorite casinos in Vegas.

Been playing there for 5 years. I play there less and less not because of the assholes from the states (im grino too), but because the table has many problems. The managers are bad, the handlers are poor, and the regulars are no longer fun...boring, and the table is way too shallow. As far as the Horeshoe... I sometimes have to beg to get the table open and its like playing craps at the K*ds table. Its wayyyyyy to short. lol.

Sometimes I welcome the ugliness!

I was walking around the Horseshoe some time ago just checking it out. It was around the time they reopened after the remodel. I went up stairs and was told I could not go into one room because it was for Chinese only.

They did not lose me as a customer because I don’t gamble. But when my gambling friend came down last week, I took him to the Morazán, specifically avoiding the Colonial (to me they have serious problems there) and the Horseshoe.

He had a lot of fun, played for hours and lost the amount of money he intended to lose.

DiegoC: I just have to call you on that observation. As many times that I've been in that casino, I have never seen a "Chinese only" policy. You need to add some facts for that post. Get real.

MuleDick: The fact is I was wandering around checking things out and went up stairs to the very top floor. There was one stairway that appeared to lead up to the roof or some attic type ante room; it was roped off and I could not go up.

I had read a lot of stuff on CRT about how improved the place was and I just wanted to see -- curosity only. As I said, I don't gamble, so I was just a pain in the ass innocent bystander -- a lookie loo!

I was about to enter a room. A person who appeared to work there (dark suit, white shirt and little name tag) told me not to go into a room because it was for Chinese only. It may have been a Chinese only room for the day (e.g. private party); that I cannot say. But he made it really clear, don't go into the room.

It sounds as if I offended you, sorry if it did, but that is what happened. It sure as heck offended me; in fact it really pissed me off.

I found the same thing, but the nosey monger that I am I seen a big Pia-Gow game going on. The Onamentals don't like Greengos eyeballing them while they play.

What a boring "push" type game that is. They can keep it. Btw, there's no race in the world of gamblers like asians...
