I just wanted to share my favorite place to eat lunch. It is a little soda near the south MPs ( Mansion, Relax, Eros, Sans, Las Gattitas, Idem, Illusions). It is diagonally across from Pantera Rosa at Calle 9 & Ave 14. The soda is “El Chavo.”
Everything is made in front of you and is very cheap. I usually get the Tacos Pollo for 1K. About $1.85 these days. I will post some pics in the Costa Rica picture gallery. It is grilled chicken, peppers, onions, pineapple served with tortillas and fantastic guacamole(sp) and hot stuff and that diced tomato thing.
Their burrito is about a foot long and thick. They make a sandwich on a 4-5 inch bun that looks great also.
All the CRT guys that I brought there think it is a great find. Stop in after a session and tell them that Jeff from Miami says hello.

Thanks for the info Scubabum, looks great from your pics!!

Whoever has the capability, could you add "El Chavo" to the CRT VIP Map? I think it would be a very good addition. :D

SB,

Thanks for the tip. I look forward to trying it out. Would you like us to add it to the CRT VIP Map in our upcoming update?

And I enjoyed meeting you earlier this month at Costa Del Sol with Crackerass Smoothwind7 and S4DR.

Thanks again for the tip.

I agree that it would be a nice addition to the map. The ceviche soda next to Pantra Rosa is another cheap meal that is only frequented by locals.
El Chavo wants our biz. The little Chinese lady owner (or manager) was so excited when I asked if I could post about it.

The guacamole they bring with the tacos is awesome... also the natural fruit drinks are very good and they bring them in those big margarita glasses.

I added it to the Map Additions thread, and I will add it to the map when I get back after my trip next week and make the additions.

You can tell her she's officially on the map now thanks to you LOL.

I was in the area yesterday and I wanted to sample Scubabum's favorita. Located it with no problem thanks to SB's directions.

Lo-and-behold, as I walk into the place who do I see? SB himself !

Thanks for a great recommendation. Really enjoyed the lunch although the guacamole was a little too spicy for my tastes ! Loved the service, especially watching SB flirt with the ChinaTica !

ScoobyDoobum,

I think the place is called 'Soda Taxista,' because so many taxistas eat there. I had breakfast there a couple trips ago and was not impressed, either well or badly. Mediocre food, great price, clean enough for me but not clean enough for Circus.

Am I thinking of the same place? Diagonal from PR, down the block from the Paly? :?

Have not eaten there, but will try this soda in Feb.

I always eat at least once at Chelle which is down the street from DR. Try the Sopa Negra. Its excellent.

Scuba,

The Mapsco crew decided that El Chavo should be checked out after a hot sweaty day of surveying this past Tuesday. We ordered the "El Chavo Plate" a combination of three meats with red bells, cilantro, onions and 6 corn tortillas, 3mil a plate. They offer a true Chipotle sauce and a tico version of Pico de Gallo(no jalapenos :( )The Chipotle sauce had a great smokey flavor and enough heat to make me blow out the diesel fumes from my nostrils.

The crew was unanimous in agreeing that this place is worthy of CRT VIP map staus. The burrito looked great, as did the quesadillas and the tortas. Thanks for the suggestion.
