That brings a question to mind. Why is there always so much drama with these chicas. I find it kind of entertaining but thinking back every little thing becomes like this huge event with these girls. Ok, I can understand an earthquake, but I'm not sure if I've ever been with any chica around here that didn't havfe multiple dramas going on. Is this so they always have a good out to make their getawya when they are ready? Just curious. Would love to know if anyone else exweriences this or notices.

Trust me, it's real.

They may over play them but when you have large extended families and a poor economic situation (ie. low pay or no jobs) coupled with poor health care and a religious backdrop there will ALWAYS be something to deal with.

These girls grow up watching the older generations (especially the females) and they all spend hours watching novelas (soap operas), thus they have been conditioned to believe "drama" is real life.

Now take all of that and wrap it into a young female (re: emotional and illogical) and you've got quite an entertaining scenario.

One note about the novelas. If you want to see some of the hottest women on TV watch Univision, Galavision or Telemundo.
PURA VIDA!

You have just shattered my image of you. I can't believe it. Vegas Bob's carefully crafted persona was all a myth. I am crushed!

Witling....great insight on the chicas and the drama. Bad shit happens everywhere, but it always seems like bad shit happens MOST in latina American countries. You mentioned some of the reasons, and were right on. The crime, the poverty, the extended families, the health care and no jobs adds up to a recipe for frequent disasters. Then you add in the natural disasters like earthquakes, fires, and hurricanes and you have a life in frequent turmoil.

I also think these babes have very little excitement in their lives, so they manufacture it out of sheer boredom. It is one reason the Soap Operas are so popular. When I was with Cristal she watched Rosalinda every afternoon on TV. I would always here it blaring when I called her. I have no doubt that the little episode with the ink pen to the throat was something she had seen on TV. It was way TOO choreographed. Almost rehearsed.

I promise you this, the longer you stay in touch with your little latina hottie, sooner or later she will be (take your pick)

1) robbed (the word is ladron)
2) thrown out of her house (usually because of too many people living there and mom figures if the chica can screw for money she can afford to live somewhere else) or (could not or did not pay rent)
3) sickness (the word is enferma)...either the mother or the baby....or both!
4) fights with other chicas (usually because they call her a puta)
5) need emergency cash (cell phone, rent, escuela)
6) Or have an earthquake!

I can see that to a certain extent, your right. But I know some high end girls who live as well as I do, maybe better and they still have drama everyday too. And of course the obligatory 1000 calls per day. Anyways, look forward to meeting some of you guys at the Thanksgiving feast.

UPDATE: Talked to a friend in Qeapos today and the roads are now open between San Jose and Q. She said there are some cracks in the roadway that you have to drive slowly over, but you can make it. She said power has been restored and phone service is back up. She said a few of the hotels up in the hills had some damage...but not hers. Most of them survived the shake and bake.

Yeah.... I was on the 5th Floor of the Presidente.. My friends were in the jacuzzi in the Master Suite.. The Jacuzzi was like a tidal wave with all the building movement.... Bizarre..

Chicas screaming with towels on in the Doorways..... After the fist quake and aftershocks everyone went outside and some moron was screaming about George Bush (like Bush caused the quake)

The whole thing real bizarre. All the lights out in SJ for some time.
