Have we any information on the hotel City One which can be read about here: http://www.costaricanhotels.com/city_on ... _rica.html as it's primary internet link appears to be at the moment? It's right about next to HLH (ZB).

Or how about this hotel primarily used for hospital stays: http://www.hlacr.com:80/ ?

Anyone use either of these places???

Have never stayed in either. Can tell you neither is in a great area. City One is as close to the Downtown Best Western as it is to HLH. HLA is in the Clinic Biblica area.

Hotel City1 can be accessed directly at www.hotelcityone.com for rates and such. They don't mention chica-friendliness. Free late breakfast ('til 11:30)
Hotel Los Angeles looks to be an unbelieveable bargain, but don't know about chica-friendliness here either (even us MP devotees might to bring a woman up once in a while.).
Awaiting more intel from the knowledgeable. For example WiFi availability, etc.

Thanks JazzboCR. I had their real link earlier save it was not working for two days so I didn't post it. I'm glad you did.

The reason I am asking about these two places is just for "intel" and possible use if the price can be put right. CityOne IS a "new hotel" and essentially in the "area". That B&B is just a bit off the path and does appear to be a good buy. I was referred to the place through one of the hospitals. I do have an email to them asking about having "...a visitor or two....", but no reply as of yet.

It's always good to have choices. http://www.hotelrincondesanjose.com/Hotel-San-Jose.html is the hotel across from Cafe Mundo and up from SL. It's a nice place, European like. It is chica tolerant.

My experience has been that if you contact these places personally via phone, come to an agreement, and then confirm same either via email or fax, you can work out good deals.

Anybody stayed at Hotel Costa Rica, Rincon de San Jose??

One thing about the Hotel Rincon de San Jose--WiFi only available in some of the rooms so specify if you want it: available everywhere in the common areas. Nice page of links to other small hotels around CR. Good to hear they are Chica-tolerant. Rack rates listed are PLUS tax but as Steven1 said, you can work a deal. That king-size room has a huge "playing field", All this info is from their Website, not personal knowledge.

Brother JazzboCR: here is a quote from the latest email I have from Hotel Los Angeles: "...friends are welcome to visit guests...". Let's hope that translates into "chica friendly" and that one can make wonderful frienships in mere seconds.....

Also, I am advised "We also have $49 rooms and a $69 suite with a jacuzzi (only these two rates include breakfast). We are located near the center of San Jose (Clinica Biblica neioghborhood, which is the top private hospital in Costa Rica), at an 8 minutes walk to Barrio Amon and 9 to the INS building...".

Again, I was referred to this "hotel", "B&B" or whatever by Clinica Biblica services.

Who shall be the first to take the plunge with this place?! Perhaps I may....but change is so difficult for me.....Egyptian cotton sheets though....
