Alright - my first trip to CR and I'm awful glad I found this site. I have my flight booked but no hotel yet. I did join as a VIP - just not sure if I should stay at the SL or somewhere else. I had read on a post (not on this site) about the Hotel Morazan but no on seems to mention it here. It seems closer to the DR and that seems to be where the action is. My guess is I can't go wrong no matter where I book. I'm going to be in CR for 6 nights!! If I want to do something along the ocean do I get a flight out of SJO - sounds like getting a car or taking a bus/taxi is not a good idea.

From one newbie to another, welcome!

This is also my first trip to CR and I'll be there on the same dates. I had the same dilemma deciding between Morazon and SL, but I decided on SL because other CRT mongers will be staying at the SL at the same time.

Compass where are you from? Do you know if the SL has poker? I love Texas Holdem and imagine I'll be playing so I want to be close to that as well. Any thoughts?

You wont find poker at the SL. Take a short cab to the Clarion and you can fulfill your poker needs, after 3pm usually.

It really doesnt matter which hotel you stay at. I also highly recommend the Hotel Castillo. It is right by NF and HLH. All of these hotels are a mere blocks and minutes away from the DelRey. I will be there the 31st-5th my 6th trip (and im only 27 years old!) I'm staying at the Castillo. The price is right there.

Thanks for the info on Poker at the Clarion. Do you know if that is the only place to play Texas Holdem? Also, do any of the places have dress codes - just wondering how I should pack.

On a side note I booked a room for 6 nights at SL - little poker, sun, fun - Here I C*m!
