I will be in CR for 2 1/2 weeks in February (2/7-2/25) and want to check out the Osa area via Puerto Jimenez and a 3 to 4 day guided hike thru Corcovado National Park. If anyone is interested in joining me for this admittedly strenuous endeavor, shoot me a PM. My amigo just bailed on me, and most Corcovado tour operators insist on a two-person minimum.

I haven't made it out of San Jose during my last few trips, and this has to change! Sill planning on dedicating 10 days or so to some serious mongering.

The majority of us consider the "hike" from HLH back to SL to be a "strenuous endeavor". That hill is a killer.

I thought our resident novelist Prolijo climbed it.

I'm only talking about hiking 30 miles or so over 3 or 4 hot, humid days. And I'm 53! The good news is that this extended stroll will mostly be on flat ground, although one might have to climb a quick tree if confronted by a pack of peccaries. I am comforted by the fact that there are only 27 different types of poisonous snakes in the park, and that river crossings are generally safe during low tide, which tends to drive away the bull sharks and crocodiles. None of this stuff is even remotely scary compared to walking back to the SL from the gulch around 1am.

What is the expected cost?

I have spent quite abit of time in PJ If you need any onfo let me know. Hotels ,places to eat and the bar to find well you know You did not mention the short runway

I'll be hiking in Corcovado next week. Lookout for snakes --no bullshit! You better know what the poisonous ones look like. Yeah my other addiction is adrenalin.

It sounds good. I might be down the tail end of your trip. I have 3 trip possibilities:

1. 13 days Medellin
2. 13 days CR
3. 13 days CR and Panama combined (fly into either city and then traverse out along the coast to depart thru the other city).

As much as I have been to CR the longest trip only 5 days but I have taken a lot of day trips from SJO and Quepos/Manuel Antonio from Jaco.

There is a lot of cool stuff outside of SJO although I tend to favor the Central Valley and Pacific coast. Heard Carib. side can be more danger.

I'd consider it but I'm in Panama feb 18 -March 2 going on a kayaking trip.

Corcovado is great, been there 3 times through Drake's Bay. Jinetes do Osa is run by a guy from Denver.

I did one day hikes into the park but the three day looked like it would be good experience.

Puerto Jiminez airport is fun. Right next to the cemetary.

I was thinking along those same lines, though I had though about coming in from Drake and exiting at Carate. I'd like to chat with you some more on this trip as my buddy opted out as well. nickboy76i@yahoo.com
