How right you are. I am led to believe that the Arias family has vast holdings in cane fields.

I never really thought about it when I was travelling, but gas prices in most all countries have always been double or more the US prices. I think it might have been a good thing if prices had stayed higher longer.. I'm afraid the memory will be short of the super high prices...

I was listening to CNN today and among all the babbling about the Detroit bailout, one of the "experts" said buyers are already starting to go for the big SUVs since the gas prices have dropped. Of course today, all of those are at bargain basement prices to begin with.

Back in the day when I tried to get into the alternative energy business all of the old timers were convinced that USA was giving hidden subsidies to the Oil producers to keep the price low and keep us all hooked on it. I have no proof but it sure seems like they were right.

Maybe I should run for President here in CR. Look how much I did for the price of gasoline since I made my first post on the subject. My campaign slogan will be "First the Opec cartel, then the criminals that prowl the streets of SJ looking for dumb, drunk Gringos that want to deflower our chicas".

VB - It is undoubtedly better than many of the slogans we are about to hear.
