On all the good reviews from this site I decided to book room 312 at the Amistad for my upcoming trip (11/27 - 12/4). I received an email today from Matt that there had been a bad storm with high winds that had torn off some roofing and caused extensive water damage to the room and therefore would not be available. Very disappointing, was looking forward to putting the sauna and jacuzzi to good use

Wow !!! Matt really stepped up to the plate to make things right, here is the email that I received:

"We had a mishap with the penthouse that will not make it available for the time you requested. I can move you to one of the other penthouses for a 3-4 days and a room with a king bed room 307 for the difference. If you can give me a phone number that i can reach you at to discuss. I will comp (give you) the room with the king bed for free. If you decide to stay in that room i will comp your entire stay. Sorry for the inconvience but we had wind damage that caused water damage to 312. Please call the hotel and leave a number you can be reached at."

I spoke to Matt by phone a few hours ago and told him I was leaning towards the split stay but the available nights in the other suite were in the middle of the stay so that would require a double move. In the end I opted for the King room for the week.

What a classy offer, Matt and the Amistad are a big asset to the CRT community. With Customer service like this the Amistad will be at the top of every CRT'ers list !!!

Matt is a stand up guy and will do whatever he can to make things right. Once, when he promised me a certain room but was unable to deliver (because of circumstances beyond his control), he insisted on comping me the next trip. The comp wasn't necessary, but certainly appreciated. :D

I second the above sentiment too. Hopefully the room will be ready for my January trip. I got room 312 between 1/8 – 1/13. And will be back in February at the same room. It is a great hotel to stay and enjoy the finest CR chicas.

As a guest of th hotel 12 times this year, I cannot say enough good things about Matt and his staff.

I am not shocked at all to hear how this poster was treated through unforseen circumstances. Another example of LaAmistad ownership and management,. 1st class in every way...

I can't add much more than has already been said about Matt and his staff. They've always been great to me, and I can not think of a bad word to say about them. Definitely a top shelf operation and always professionally run! More kudos to Matt!

MG

I stayed there for the first time in October and liked it very much. I was taken care of by Carlos Rodriguiz and Alfonso and the lady who has been there since it opened.

I have not met Matt though. Is he the owner ?

Only nit-picking thing was that they would change dollars to colones at $1 = 500c.

Finding an intelligent business owner in CR is like finding a needle in a haystack... Now that is how you do business... And that is definitely how you build loyal customers....
