I was having an early dinner of some excellent corvina at the Del Mar, but it was spoiled by a loud-mouth drunk at a nearby table. Even though a young gringo couple were sitting next to his table, he loudly proclaimed that all American women were worthless and had fat asses. Then he started yelling about Communist Jews -- I am not kidding.

He was sitting with two men who did nothing to curb his disgusting behavior. His chica got sloppy kisses and hugs while looking embarrassed.

The staff at the Del Mar try hard to run a quality restuarant with good service. But an out-of-control drunk like this can make us all look bad and result in the same kind of lousy service that I have come to expect at the HDR and the Key Largo. Part of being a brother is to help the guy not to make a fool out of himself.

The fellow you describe sounds like a guy who was at SL Friday and Saturday, annoying the shit out of everyone. I assume that he didn't stay for hours at the Del Mar. We at SL were not quite so lucky, because he just wouldn't go. He did manage to attach himself to a few lucky CRT'ers. I think his best friend, EsDeB needs to do an intervention.

I always read a lot of these threads, and there always about the 'ugly american' and how it looked so bad, and how you hated it. Well, why dont you guys that do all this complaining, rather than bitching about it on the forum, grow a pair and tell the guy to get his shit together.

Sometimes people dont realize how they're acting, and everyone is too politically correct to get involved. Instead of you being embarrassed and suffering during your meal, call them on it. Everytime I've taken this approach, the original guy got really embarrassed and calmed down, and we all went back to having a good time.

is this guy a dirty blonde haired guy, maybe in his late forties early fifties with a sort or warhol look about him? if it is i think he lives there and many have seen his act. that guy is from NY.

You have a point. After one shout, I did turn around and non-verbally
signal to keep it down a little, by shushing with my hands. He had
his back to me, but the guy with him saw me. I was just trying
to give a friendly message. Later I said "Enough already,"
and the guy with him said "Enough what?" I didn't want to make things
worse and be the source of a confrontation, but they finally left.

So I tried twice. Even the waiter was embarrassed for
the guy. For all I know, the guy just lost everything in the stock
market or got screwed in a divorce. But how can his buddies let him
yell about "Communist Jews" in a restaurant serving all kinds of people?

Some people believe it's their god given right to do whatever they want, no matter how others might feel about it. To them, it's none of your business how they behave and they'll (typically verbally, but sometimes violently) attack you to defend their beliefs.

Sorry, there's just nothing you can do about that kind of guy. If he's that much of a biggot, then he's not going to say "Oh, sorry, i didn't know i was annoying anyone". Confronting him will likely just turn into a brawl of some sort, and then nobody wins... so the "Good samaritan" that tries to take care of it gets kicked out as well.

But seriously, is "Comunist Jew" any worse than "phucking Gringo"? Biggots are everywhere, not just American.
