Some time ago (last summer I think - old age is a bitch) some of us were posting about the MP closures and speculating about the personal involvement of the then new minister of public safety. That was about the time she and her friends at Inamu spit in the eye of Texas law and granted amnesty to a gringa who convenetly cried spousal abuse to stop extradition, even though there was never any evidence in the case of abuse.

I just re-read Bilko’s post of the event (Posted: Tue Nov 11, 2008 1:32 am) reprinted from AMCostarica. In retrosepct, it is really evident that the raid was personal on the part of del Vecchico.

To my knowledge, the HDR runs a pretty tight ship. It might be ground zero for mongering but it is NOT ground zero from crime. Sure there are the panhandlers and fake Cuban cigars, and every now and then a senorita doesn’t perform for pay, but it is not a center of violent crime. El Carpio, Barrio Cuba, Hatillo, yes. HDR, no.

The rational question is why did she deploy so many resources to an area and target a specific business when it is not a police problem; and why did she, someone who has NO expertise in law enforcement, personally direct the operation?

The outcome clearly indicates the supposition that HDR is not a hot bed of crime and violence. It does point to this being a personal vedetta on the part of del Vecchio. Is she on some type of crusade?

If you like that kind of crap, which one could argue borders on harassment or abuse of power, you will love what happens if Laura baby gets elected next year. NOTE: Laura Chinchilla is the VP and so stongly supported by the current president don Oscar, that he was ordered by the elections board to stand down.

Very good and I think accurate post DiegoC.

The reaction I receive amasses me when I have tried to explain to fellow CRT VIPs that there is a large group of wealthy and powerful Ticos who want prostitution, and for that matter even casinos done away with in this country and that that group is lead by Vice President Chinchilla who is running for president. Invariably the response is "that would never happen; the economy it too dependant on mongers. And no woman could be elected president here" Well guess what guys "that woman" is leading in the polls, and the people who want our fun stopped could care less about the lives of the estimated 10,000 people who are dependant on prositition and/or casinos for food, clothing, housing, etc. And as much as we might like to think differently, WE account for only about 10% of the tourist industry in Costa Rica. Just a little food for thought: the MP closures this past summer occured when the President was out of the country and "SHE" was acting president!

Bangbang-what do you think the chances are that if elected she would just leave things as they are.She wouldn't be the first to have a change of heart while in office. Also do you think prostitution would thrive even if its more underground.

It seems to be the #1 thing on her agenda (and her supporters); Street crime, home invasion, robbery, murder, etc. are less important (if important at all) :? The only hope is that there will be enough Ticos who partake that will voice opposition to shuting it down to stop the effort (yeah! sure that is possible  NO WAY is a married Tico (most Ticos who use prosititutes) going to publicly support prostitution :!:

As for prostitution being shut down or moving under ground: In my opinion (for what it is worth); this is a Latin country, you will never stop prostitution. It will continue to exist just as it does in the states. It will all be "underground" and therefore probably difficult for gringos to infiltrate.

All of this is just the opinions of an old fart--lets hope I am wrong about all, or at least most, of it. I am basing a lot of this on what has been said to me by my next door neighbor (a very wealthy old maid who resently retired from a very high position in the CR government. My opinion from things she has said is that the major objection is to us "old" gringos coming here and "plucking" their "young" chicas. I try to avoid her seeing chicas coming or going, but when she does, I get lamblasted. I always tell her they are my maid! jeje

It appears politics is the same in the CR as in US. Nothing like a distraction to hide real problems that affect everyday people. But those problems are harder to deal with effectively. Smokescreens make for good politics.

Maybe mongers only make up 10% of the tourist industry but in reality that's pretty substanial. Any country that would lose 10% of their tourist business is taking a really big hit. Not to mention hotel taxes and the number of $26 exit fees paid by vacationing mongers returning home. So the country of Costa Rica would also take a hit with the loss of revenue because of someones pet project.

If the hobby of mongering in CR has to go underground it would still flourish with groups like this, ISG and others. New York mayor Rudy Guiliani caused most of the great titty and lap dance bars in NYC to close through zoning ordinaces. (Anyone here ever spend time at the Harmony Burlesques' or Purple Passion?) The venues simply went underground and well promoted on a Yahoo group. Certainly not as convienent but the dancers still dance.

Which MP was the other action shot in? The shower resembles the new HLH showers. Good video of the raid from outside the DR.

Ok...just found this, from the description on the website titled "CostaRica Tica"

This is my second trip to San Jose, CostaRica & YES, she is a fine ass, white latina. The costarican chicas are known as Ticas & they are very proud of being called it. I met this hoe in a local Massage club. You pay $25 for a good 30 minute Phuck. Well, as u can tell we did more then just Phuck. We phucked on tape! Just look at this hoes sexy eyes with her nice silky long hair. She has one of the most sexiest eyes i have ever seen. See got them angel eyes, real wide, slanted & innocent looking. The shit turned me on even more when she was sucking my dick & here eyes were wide open looking at me. Damm, i luv this hoe. You can watch all the 40 minute video with all 100's of pictures all in the members area

Does anyone know this particular Tica?

Before all of this internet exposure the MPs were all underground, like they were met to be.

Think most of us who came to San Jose in the late eighties and early ninety's would respectfully disagree with that blanket statement. I know of a number of them that operated openly.

Do not know where you are getting that Idea. Prosititution is and has always been basically legal here (pimping is illegal). Even though many MPs walk a thin line in terms of pimping, as long as they are a piension or hotel there has never been any real legal problems and as ID said, many have operated openly for many years. There are several that have operated openly in the same location or under the same name in 2 or 3 different locations for 20 or more years. The internet has brought them more attention, more problems with the pimping laws, and more gringo business. Ticos have used their services for many many years; Hell I know one woman that has worked in piensions for 40 + years and all but 1 of those years in the same one  YES, I SAID 40+ YEARS  8). And before some troll asks; NO I HAVE NEVER USED HER SERVICES :P

Thanks for the confirmation Tom, if anyone can confirm that the chica in the video is Daniella and if she still works there, that would be appreciated. :D http://www.thehabibshow.com/

**edit** Looks like Klockman beat me to it. Thanks Klock.
