it is not NEARLY as horrible as the reputation that has been spread about it.
That depends on what part of the reputation you are talking about. If its in regard to missing reservations then it is from my experience a very deserved reputation. For my friends and I, they have screwed up 100% of the time for late arrivals, which lends to the theory that they'll sell your room out from under you for a better offer, or for a sure thing in the evenings.
I was there a couple of weeks ago and had my friend book two rooms in each of our names since he was arriving in the morning. In a
new twist, on arrival, the reservation was for a double room for two people and they had no other room availability when I arrived that evening. It worked out for the best though because my wingman was stuck in Honduras overnight and he got a reduced rate on a suite the next day.

The rates do not include breakfast. Or maybe it does but the food is not that good.

a Continental breakfast IS included. And, it's not that bad. Nothing special, but it's OK
Yes breakfast is now included and you have a choice of a Continental, a tico typical, or an americano version. I had the desayuno americano two days in a row, the first morning was not very good, the second morning was even worse, I decided it would be better to sleep in the third morning.
However, for $47 (including breakfast, taxes), no chica fees, and because its located a block from ground zero, I still think its a good value if your flight arrives in the AM or early afternoon.
