One of my closest friends, we were partners in some pretty big battles, plans to come to Costa Rica for a visit. He does not want an Hispanic woman, he wants an Afro-Caribbean. I have gathered some information for him so when he is here he will get all he wants and then some.

From my observation Black Americans are not discriminated against in here by either the ladies of leisure, whom I believe are most interested in green Americans, nor is there discrimination among the mongering population.

That said, I am not Black, in fact I am so white it looks like I drink bleach instead of coffee every morning. But the issue of discrimination is personal to me and I have a track record of fighting against it and taking some pretty stong punishment for my stand. I am sensitive to overt and subtle actions, comments or insinuations that indicate discrimination and have not noticed it here among the mongering population.

You're cool with me dudes they are some white people that do stick up for racial discrimation more than spanish or black people . I basically respect that and for me as long the female is clean and sexy she is fair with me in any nationality because everybody has something good to offer people .

Well said Diego, can't understand why anyone could not respect that, unfortunately you and I know that's not the case. Progressive and open-minded attitudes at the individual level only serve to bring our civilization to unprecedented standing.

I am African American and have had great experiences in DR. I've been on three separate trips this year and have not experienced any racism. I've gone with friends (African American, Spanish, and white) on two trips and alone on another and on each trip it seems we have our pic of the women and in fact more seem to approach us than normal. My white and Spanish friends noticed this too. I don't want to speculate why that is but I think it may be due to personalities. The first trip (Feb 2008) I didn't speak any Spanish at all and very little on the next two. I find/found that you can still communicate well enough with chica's that speak no English at all. Also you find that there are more than enough (especially the Colombiana's) chica's that speak great English. I've met and gone out with bartenders at BM, HDR, and KL. I've met and gone out with a waitress I've met in a restaurant. I know there are chica's that are less interested in African Americans than other races but that is only natural. There are many that are more interested in African Americans than other races too. Me personally, I like all beautiful women but prefer Italian woman over Russian women or Asian women over Irish women. As long as you are respectable and don't look/act like a dog anyone can have a great time in CR.

I am African American and I had no problem in CR. Just got back yesterday. I would say that CR is very American influenced. I would say that blacks are much more received there than in Asia. Face it, everyone likes hip hop these days. If you look like Usher or Chris Brown, you will have it made there. You will have a great time. Ping me

I was never turned down and usually went for $60. I even had a couple of females tell me they liked my style.

I'm also a young AA member headed to SJO- CR(1st time) in late Jan w/an AA wingman. I've been alot of places, and the younger generation- intnl world, is into the hip-hop culture! Soo it can be an advantage, opposed to popular belief!

Speaking as a black man in America, I must admit that all my experiences in C.R. haven't been good.

First of all, the women expect nappy, kinky hair. I disappoint them with my silken locks. Don't know why I can't grow a decent natural.

Also, that "myth" thing. I'll never forget the disappointed mumbling of my first hardcore HDR girl. The garage was far bigger than my ride, if you get my drift.

Also, I can't dance for shit. Whassup wid dat?

Okay, the above jokes are not funny if you don't know I'm a blind white man. I face more discrimination because of my blindness than any black guy will ever experience in C.R.

I have too, been turned down at ZB. Also in the HDR. Fuglies seem to swarm me, forgetting that I have a sense of smell.

Fact is, girls accept/refuse clients on a whole bunch of criteria. It ain't a black tahng, a blind thang, an old thang... it is at its basis a money thang.

Relax my cousins of color. I've seen absolutely no problems for black guys in Costa.

Gosh, I hope I have offended no one. I'm down. And if you knew my social and musical history, you'd understand.

I guess I can see the hip hop culture being embraced with the chicas and yes maybe it can be an advantage. But what happens when you open your mouth?

I'm sure you enjoy spittin your game to the chicas in the states Jaymo, and for the most part I'm sure (hope) it gets you far. A little harder to operate if that's taken away from you. So yes, in short, learn spanish. You are young enough to start learning so that by your 5th or 6th CR trip, it will be a WHOLE different ball game.

I wouldn't worry about which clubs are poppin' yet if you can't holla

By the way, our next President is a real example of what African-American is.

As for not having problem in CR, as long as you have money, most providers don't care what color you are, and even those who do at first, sooner or later they will go with black too.

Hi guy,I am a cool guy of mixed culture . Well anyways I can say Costa Rica is one many HOTSPOTS that has no problem catering to men of color(considering the variety of different color woman available in skin tone). I have been to PUERTO RICO, CANCUN,MONTERREY,MEXICO CITY,CARACAS,DOMINICANREPUBLIC AND COSTA of course. I would def. say Costa Rica and DR see all colors as likable or lovable. Mexico is probably a little bit more critical about men of color.Or men with Afro American features.
But dont get me wrong.I went out with A beautiful Chica while there(Monterrey)~ from a massage parlor......In my opinion ,the woman in MX are more PICK n CHOOSE.......Probably interested to the Ricky Martin,Marc Anthony type...
