Hey does anyone know of some good budget long term parking near MIA? The best one I found so far costs $7/day covered parking and $6/day BBBJ (err I mean uncovered parking, jajajajaja). Seriously it is a good lot and close to MIA but maybe another with a little longer shuttle that is less expesive somewhere else? Or one that gives a discount for more than a week's storage?

I use to take Tri-rail but too many delays and then still have to pay taxi so if the trip is short just more convenient to long term park but not at the airport itself. MIA lots adjacent the airport real expensive.

Thanks. Heading down Peru next week por 12 dias!

I've looked online for cheaper parking near MIA, but the cheapest I found was about $7 per day at some off-site place on LeJune Rd, then shuttle in to airport. Personally, I usually only take 4 or 5 day trips to CR, so I don't mind paying the $15 per day to park inside the MIA garage. Because when I get back to MIA from CR, all I want to do is get in my car and drive North (for 2.5 phucking hours)!!! :x

I might Taxi/Tri-rail down and rent-a-car back to save $30 but the convenience is defn. worth it. The $7/day place is proly the most economical.

Jester, I park at "AirportFast" off of Lejune Rd (42 ave and about 28 street) I print out a coupon at their web site for $8.00 a day ,they have covered parking no extra charge. Shuttle bus to and from the Airport.
I believe there's a weekly rate sightly cheaper.

Normally use FastPark. They do it for about 7 a day with AAA and they wash your car for free upon request. Always ready to take you in to the terminal and rarely much of a wait to get back.

When I went down for an extended stay I took the Tri-Rail down from Deerfield Beach, the fare was only 2 bucks! Saved the hassle and expense of driving plus parking fees. Shuttle bus to the terminal free. Obviously you need to set aside more time to get to the airport.

Only one problem. The taxi ride to the TriRail station was 16 bucks tho.... Fuckin Ladrones! Guy said he'd give me a deal and take me to MIA for 100 bucks... Sure pal..

I'm not sure if you live in the Miami area, or just fly out of MIA. But if you need to travel to MIA I would suggest renting a car from a near by airport (if available) and drive it one way and drop it off at the MIA airport.

Since the car goes from one airport to another, there's no drop off fee. Many times you can get a mid size for about $32. After you gas it up, it's no longer a worry particularly if you will be gone a while.

Just another option,

Cujo

A quick websearch turns up sites like http://www.airportparkingreservations.com or http://www.parkrideflyusa.com which has some place as low as $5/day or $35/week (1st day paid up front plus their $2-5 service charge). But that still comes out to less than the $49/wk that you've been paying. You might be able to contact these places directly to save on the internet commission.

Continental Valet Parking (formerly Florida Auto Rental) - 24 hour valet service @ $6/day

CBM Park and Fly - valet service open from 5am-2am $5/day ($2/day more for covered parking) 3499 Northwest 25th Street, Miami, FL (800) 435-3195

http://www.unitedairportparking.com $4.80/day self-park uncovered at the Wyndham Hotel ($2/day more for covered parking)

That’s what I do . Budget seems to have the best drop off rates. From PBI to MIA it cost me around $35.00 + fuel and I save money on the fuel because my truck is a gas guzzler.

A question for you MIA guys...

Does MIA have the shared ride service we have here at FLL? You can get to northern Broward door to door service for $16 - 21. Sometimes that's the way to go.

Wyndham Hotel offers covered and uncovered parking along with shuttle service. Not positive but I think it's $8-9 per day. It's close to the airport and easy to get to even with all the construction going on there.

I normally drive 3 hrs from the frozen tundra to a bus terminal in Milwaukee. I pay $42 for a round trip motor coach bus that drops me at my terminal at Ohare. With that, they give me free parking for up to 2 weeks, which is my usual stay. My point, look for a shuttle bus that offers free parking. Sometimes you can avoid a lot of traffic congestion in the mix.

That was already covered. It might be $8-9/day if you book it through the hotel, but that would not be any savings over the $6-7 day that Jester is already getting. Besides, he can already get a much better rate for parking then either of those at the Wyndham if he books through the link I provided earlier:

And then there are these, which I suppose might work but raise the new questions how much it costs to park at PBI (or other "nearby" airport or whichever airport you start out from) AND how much it ALSO costs to rent a car to get BACK to that airport to pick up your car or truck AFTER your trip:

The same issue applies to PR's solution since presumably he also needs to pay another $16 for a cab ride from Tri-Rail back to his house at the end of his trip. That comes out to $36 total local costs. that still might save you a little money but only on trips lasting a week or longer.

Well damn, should be able to get someone to drop you off at that nearby airport, that's not so bad.

Jad,
I don't mean to be a ball buster. Heck we're all just throwing out ideas here. But that still doesn't answer the question of what you do to get home at the end. I'm assuming that $35 rate that Mullet mentioned is one way and that he has to rent again at the other end. So if I'm understanding things correctly that means it would cost him $70 in rental costs vs. $35-40/wk (plus EXTRA fuel for his gas guzzler) if he drives his own vehicle to MIA and parks there.

Now your idea about getting someone to drive you to the airport is certainly a good one and what I always try to do myself (unless leaving very early or arriving very late) but if the airport you have them drive you to is really that "nearby" couldn't you also get someone to just drive you directly to that nearby airport where you're actually leaving from (and maybe give them some of the money you would have given to a rental car company for their bother)? If you can't find friends or family to do it, with all the CRTers in S. FL, I'd think you could possibly find a fellow monger to do it as long as you were willing to return the favor on one of their future trips or even just split the costs of local parking if you go to CR together.

Yes most definitely . That's only 1 way so the rt would be closer to $70.

But to me the convenience to wash my hands of the situation once I'm on the plane is worth it alone. My option might be slightly more expenssive, but dropping a car off and taking the shuttle to the terminal is the way to go for me.

I'm waaaaaay to lazy to look in the long term parking for a decent spot, then carrying my luggage etc...

There's better more affordable options, but I always side with convenience and piece of mind.
