You know those Brazilian restaurants...Churrascarias or Rodizio as I think they're called outside of Brazil?

I know there's one in Escazu...Has anyone ever been there? Any good?

I've never been to one outside of Brazil so I'm afraid it won't compare.

It's called Fogo Brasil, it's up by Agency Nissan.... A few reviews here, do a search

It's expensive, the salad bar is quite good, but they bring out the cheaper cuts of meat much faster than the good stuff

On one of my trips to Brazil, I went to the same type of place but it was all different types of pizza that they bring around.

Damn, it was so good. I can't believe the things they put on pizzas there.

By the way, I think Brazil has some of the best pizza out there. Don't get me wrong...I'll take a good NY pizza over any other but overall, Brazil takes the cake.

Thanks...I've seen Fogo Brasil mentioned on here before but didn't know that was the place.

And it's been mentioned lately that Fogo Brasil has suffered a quality slide on the pasta and veggie side as well. I sure like the concept but the execution may disappoint. Remember they do use CR meats.

I am addicted to high end Brasilian churrascaria's, (sp?) and have wanted to try Fogo... But, my CR resident friends tell me not to waste my money there.

But, I recently had superior lomitos at TWO locations in CR: Esquinas de Argentina and at the new Las Palmas Grill. No massive quanities of meat as in currascaria style, but, superior beef in both venues.

There's another Brisilian Steakhouse in Escazu, right below Hooters in Plaza Itskazu. It's small, and it's salad bar isn't much to speak of, but the meats were good and the price was better than Fogo Brasil.

That's actually the one I was thinking of. Thanks for the info.

Last time I was in Rio I went to something like 7 churrascaria's in a 13 day trip. Gained almost 15 pounds on that trip almost 10% of my bodyweight at the time, god it was great! I saw a sign for a churrascaria in San Jose on the way to the city from the airport. Is that the one everyone is talking about (Fogo Brasil)?

Yes, the billboard you saw enroute to SJ from the airport is for Fogo. As much as I've wanted to try it, I have heard unanimous neatives aout the place from my local friends.

The place described by TheMadGerman in Plaza ITSKATZU, Escazu, is named La Fogueira, (506) 2588-0080.

I have never had a bad meal at Fogo. I did go to the one in Plaza Itskazu and almost heaved. It was fairly new at the time and may have improved.....but a friend and I had about 7 cuts of meat and couldnt stomach any more.

I was at fogo about a month ago, meats were ok, but the buffet bar wasnt very good. and yes the better meats dont seem to come around the tables fast enough. Kinda pricey for what you get if you ask me.
