Does any one have news, photos, information or a preview about the new wing at Sportsman's Lodge.

I talked to Susan yesterday, and the new wing is still NOT open for business. Permits are holding up the opening.

The crew was actively working on the minor details yesterday (a little patch and paint here and there). It looks like they are ready as soon as they get the word.

I got a short tour a few weeks ago. The entire space is magnificent and truly lives up to the "Mansion" moniker. Far too nice for an old country boy like me...I ain't no fortunate son.

Wheatly:

Like Pac 55 I got an extensive tour of the Mansion Wing a few weeks ago, but I brought my camera. I would be happy to share photo's if there is an appropriate place to post them.

I agree with Pac 55 about the Mansion moniker, this will be one of the nicest places to stay in SJO IMHO. I was hoping to be able to try out the new rooms on my trip next week but as of 2 days ago they said still waiting for permits. They won't accept reservations until they have permits in hand Bill told me. Probably wise given the Glacial pace of officialdom in CR.

Based on what I saw, and the service plans Bill described it will be worth the wait. Soon as they will take the Reservation I'm booking Oso Grande the 2 room suite for my birthday next year.

I will be in San Jose for one night and based on posts want to reserve a room at the SL. Can anyone provide information on how nice the the courtyard rooms are? I am guessing they are a little noisy, bt since it is only for one night that is not that big a concern unless it is super loud. If you feel the courtyard rooms are a no go any suggestions for something near by since I like the vibe and crowd at the SL bar.

IMHO...for 1 night...who cares how loud it is?? If you can get a room at SL, get it. The vibe, the staff, and the scenery at the place make up for the courtyard noise, which if it is at the beginning of the week was not that bad.

Another question is who's gonna replace Asta if as rumored she takes over food and bev at La Amistad? Not a huge question but still...

Some teaser photos of the new wing now available on the Sportsman's Lodge website.

Thanks Bill

In response to requests from several members I have posted some of my pics from my tour of the Mansion Wing from a trip the end of August. They are under Costa Rica and World Tourist Sceanery, pics 9960 to 9975. Hope this helps all of you who have been wondering about the new rooms at SL.

As a guy who averages 20 nights a month in hotels all over the world, these are certainly some of the most elegent and comfortable I have been in. With the prices I see on the web site, I see them as a good value for those who like the finer things. It will be nice to have some more choice at the higher end of the SJO price range.

I have a reservation already for next March in a Jr. Suite in the new wing with a request for El Mono in the Mansion Wing. I assume no reservation requests for the Mansion Wing are being filled until it opens. The rooms look awesome! 3rd trip to SJ but first stay at SL, although I went there once to check it out.
