Ciaociao32001 Thanks for the information :D . When I was a 100K flier with United, if you upgraded you had to have a upgrade certificate. They had 500 mile intervals, nationwide and international intervals. If you didn’t have a certificate, no matter how many miles you had, you could not upgrade unless you traded some accumulated miles for the upgrade.

Your airline Jetblast is top quality. You may never know that unless you have flown the unfriendly skies of other legacy carriers. Your former company president is used as a case study in some of the most prestigious business schools.

Mucho Gusto plays the same game I believe and does quite nicely...

Absolutely! And I know a few other CRT'ers who do the same!

I fly an average of 10 times per year. I charge most of my business expenses to my AA (Citibank) Mastercard (around $25k - 30k per month). Of those 10 trips, usually AT LEAST 8 of those trips are free, except for around $20 for taxes! Matter of fact, I'm flying to Thailand next year 1st class for free using miles. Actually, it's costing me $63 in taxes for the ticket !!!

When it comes to frequent flyer miles - If you know how to play the game, you can fly for little or nothing!

I am anouther who plays the airmiles game and have reached the point I only buy a tciket if there is a really good price. AA is my primary airline and the citi advantage cards is one of the few where you can churn miles getting mulitiple cards over and over. I only have 4 to 5K monthly charges so I get multiple credit cards canceling one periodicly to keep getting 25000 miles bonuses . Lots of outher ways come up to get miles here and there with out flying if you watch for them. Anouther nice perk of AA is you can change an airmiles trip up to a year from booking date to same destiantion for free.

I know this thread was on Contitnental and I have an account with them too but they are now charging $150 to change miles ticket even to same destination and availablity is not as good for me being far better on AA at the lower rates, I will be doing a Contitnetal ff trip to Philippines Novemeber but had to book it way ahead, rbc100

If tickets are a bargain, I pay cash. When prices are higher, I use frequent flyers miles and pay only taxes. I also use a Continental Credit card for my major purchases and that earns me a minimum of one international rt per year. That means that I pay for about one rt in four, and only when fares are on sale. I am also willing to look for fares when other people do not travel such as the period after Labor Day and before Thanksgiving.

I also saved my frequent flyer miles for 25 or more years, knowing that I wanted them for retirement trips. My buddies however, used them for stupid business seats to cushion their asses on businesss trips. At this time I still have enough ff miles for three 'anywhere RT' trips....and by the time I've used them up, I will have earned a couple more
