Arrived yesterday, staying here for 16 nights, have room 301. The downstairs has some changes since my last stay in July. The bar has furniture now, barstools and plush chairs and couches (also chairs and couches in those previously empty upstairs alcoves). Two LCD TVs are on the wall. The hotel does have the liquor license; now they're waiting for the hospital waiver, something to do with being 400 feet from a hospital, school, etc.. New tables and cushioned chairs in the dining area. No hot-food buffet anymore, but just ask and someone will fix up eggs, gallo pinto or pancakes. It's just temporary until the restaurant starts up, and there are plans to have an "egg person" fix up eggs like at the Prez or Amon Plaza.

Stayed 3 nites and they nver told you they had breakfast and too loud due to construction!

i had toast for 3 days and saw nobody with eggs and this great breakfast I HEAR ABOUT.
SO IF YOU LIKE JACKHAMMERS SURE STAY HERE. ROOMS ARE GREAT BUT COME ON NOBODY GOES OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE OR OFFER YOU BREKFAST. I WAS HANGING OUT AT BEAKFAST TIME 8AM OR 9AM AND SAW NO ONE MAKING ANYBODY FOOD.

When was this? Carlos (morning desk guy I think) asked me if I wanted something made. Just have to ask.

Thats all well and good but when your new to town and you don't know they will do this for you its alittle frustrating to find out after the fact.

Great room! can't not say enough about it! But taking a nap during construction hours is tough.

Ok thats it. Next time I stay I will wake up after a long nite and have an awesome breakfast!

Hiker,
I'm coming down Oct 2-4. Sportsmens is full up, I might stay at Castillo or this place. Just where is this hotel. I know the Clarion, and the Castillo is across the stree from the Clarion, I know the Hemingway, but where is this place? How much is a room, and are there some quiet rooms?

Chesscat, the Amistad is one block from Sportsmens. See this thread about the current discount: https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=24317

It's a quiet place, no casino or bar (well, it's not operating yet). First-floor rooms by the dining area could be a bit noisy during breakfast hours, but on the third floor the only noise you'll hear at night will be the occasional click-click of chicas' heels. :D All the rooms (I think) have been remodeled and have the Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattresses, which are very nice indeed.

The remodel job there is great. Once the bar is open and run by Asta, I predict that Amistad will quickly become a favored destination.

I think I'd like to stay there. Do you think a reservation is needed prior to Oct 2?

I don't know if it's actually necessary, but it would be a good idea if you want the CRT discount.

depends on which room you want. if you like the penthouses it might already be too late.
any update on the opening of the bar/restaurant?
