Right in the middle of a thread on the best pizza in town were some posts of the best burgers around. Irish Drifter suggested the Capital Grill at the White House giving 2 good reasons, but also the Marriott Court Yard.
Another poster made a case for Nifa Nifu in Santa Ana. Now this thread was a year+ ago--there's got to be additions to it. Somebody want to step up with their favorite? Haven't I read about Hamburguesa something?

P.S. I'm not tagging anybody for thread hijacking or anything, it's just "Youth wants to know".

Yeah......Hamburgesa Factory on Central Avenida. They make a pretty good hamburger, as well barbecue ribs and chicken. You can also get a nice, thin steak meal. I usually hit the place at least once a week during a one month stay. It's very reasonably priced and is very busy with the tico trade. Nice, young employees working there; very helpful.

The secret to a good hamburger there is to NOT get the tico ketchup on it. I always tell them to dab some of the barbecue sauce on it.

I agree that the Hamburger Factory has the best burger in the gulch. The burger combo meal is about 2,300¢ (less than $5).

I always ask them to not put on any mayo and just a little ketchup. If you don't say anything, they drown the burger in them.

I tried the Hamburger Factory down the hill from El Pueblo and behind the Villa Tournon a few weeks ago. The burger was terrible! Burger King or McDonald's would have been better.

I have eaten at both the hamburger factory and the hamburger grill. For the price they were not bad but hardly in the league of the capital grill or the Marriott.

That's kind of like saying, in a post about the best steak in NYC, that Outback is in the same league as Peter Luger's, Smith & Wolensky, Gallagher's, etc.

I knew a guy who lived in San Jose for about 4 years and never bought an umbrella. Anytime he needed one he simply went into any hotel restaurant or large restaurant and said I had lunch here two days ago I forget my umbrella. Every large restaurant in San Jose has a closet full of left behind ones and will glad to have you take one off their hands..

Te con Te might be okay for a burger but will never go there again. Use to go there for breakfast until one day they charged tax plus service which use to be included in the price. A 23% price increase in one week. Lost my business never been there since and that was over 6 months ago. I understand businesses raising prices but 23% in one fell swoop?

The only burger I've eaten in SJO, that doesn't taste like mystery meat, is:

News Cafe!

I gagged on Hamburger Factory's dog meat. I thought it was horrible!

YMMV
