With a year of travel to various Latin American destinations just about wrapped up (although the grand finale is yet to come):D, thought is was about time to take a dip into the old coin pouch that I've been tossing all my post-trip foreign coins into over the past year and see just what I have (amazing how this stuff piles up over time)..

With the help of reading glasses, a strong magnifying glass, and some currency conversion tools, here's the verdict:

4,145 Costa Rican colones ($7.61 U.S.)
17.15 Brazilian reals ($9.41 U.S.)
1,250 Colombian pesos ($.60 U.S.)
9.83 Peruvian soles ($3.32 U.S.)
161 Dominican Republic pesos ($4.60 U.S.)

All told, about $24-25 U.S. Oh well, guess I don't get to retire and monger full time quite yet... :(

Right on. :D
But, respectfully, the plural of the Brasilian currency is "reais."

I assume it's been a good year :?:

GR,

You're quite the big spender!

I always put my extra colones in a zip loc baggie I keep in my carry on luggage. I'm guessing that I have 15K colones. They have come in handy.

I inadvertantly kept about 400 Brazilian reais when I left Brazil, which were worth about $250 in June. Now they're worth $215. No matter, they will buy me a session in Centaurus!!!

Ciaociao

No, the dream apartment is downright expensive, but worth it in terms of the party atmosphere it engenders. :D :D In fact, I predict that you'll have so much fun in Brazil that afterwards, you will almost appear to have undergone a conversion, whereby you will actually post negative things about CR and ticas!! Mark my words!!

I next to never have colones left over. I guess that could be that I rarely exchange money. Anything I have left over gets tipped out to somebody usually.

What's up with this apartment talk? So guys rent apartments in Brazil? I'm guessing it's furnished?

Negative things about CR - surely you jest! In all honesty, I phreakin' love CR - so much so that I'm actually on my way there yet again tonight (trip #25 or something like that - who the hell knows anymore) to help Pan T. celebrate his birthday this weekend...

I just post negative shit about CR to piss off JOsie...:P

Jadcujo - yeah, apartments are the way to go in Rio for a number of reasons, and especially ones like these:

http://www.riodreamapartment.com/

But I certainly wouldn't want to tempt you away from your CR paradise...

Damn, we could be straight up like scar face up in that bitch.

I'll eventually go, that's a promise. You have to understand I don't really go to CR to monger. Now Brazil on the other hand would be a different story.... 8)

No, just "taking one for the team" for my buddie's birthday - as noted above. Might even get laid a few times if I'm lucky...

But if the plane crashes and I don't make it to my next planned destination, I'm gonna really be pissed...

GR,

BOTH you AND PanT, bunda aficionados if they ever existed, in CR at the same time?  My world is crumbling from this information! Next thing I know, you'll be telling me that Safadino will be there at the same time!!!  What the Phuck is the world coming to. :?:

In all seriousness, I would be there to party with PanT as well if I were able. :D He's a great guy and just one more example of a terrific pal I've met through this board. :D Is he as much fun in CR as he is in Rio? Anyways, glad you could make it down to celebrate with him and I hope you guys have a stellar time.

Ciaociao

So what's the maid look like? Oh great mirrors in every room for your pleasure. Sounds really nice, if you split that 2 ways, little over $100 bucks each per night plus meals. :D Does the maid cook in the nude and give massages. I had to ask, my maid does.
