[quote="Ryu"]The place is still closed with a rumored grand opening on the 12th. It won't be a mongering bar anymore though is the word.[/quote

Read on another thread that the back open air bar was open on the 5th so wonder what is true here. Hopefully the no mongering bar part is total BS. Guess I'll find out firsthand in three weeks.

Well I'm staying here right now and I got it from a pretty good source. Things can change, you never know but that's what I heard.

Castillo associated restaurant is now open in the back bar area in a "soft opening" type manner. Drinks and grilled food (hamburger, hotdogs) being sold, but, too, the bar is also providing (or did on 09/05) boca of grilled fish and also grilled chicken breast. This bac bar area opens at 2pm---9pm and is named Las Palmas Grill. The new operators were at the back bar yesterday evening. The main restaurant MAY begin serving as early as this coming Monday...but that is a crap shoot

This was the post I was talking about, and he too is staying there, so there was my question of being open. Who are the new owners?

So, do Tom and Bo still own/run the place? If not, is Alehandra (Bartender and Bo's wife) still working there? What happened?

I stayed at the Castillo last April (cherry trip to CR), really enjoyed it. Met a lot of cool guys there mostly, chicas so so. Martha sp. Patricia and Darren were awesome.

I thought that chick that tended bar in back was Toms wife, her son bartended in front. Who's Bo anyway, is that the guy that talked alot about buying the place from Tom? Hope Toms alright, he's from where I live in the states. I'm confused and curious thats all. Can anyone clear this up for me? thanx.

The younger really short blonde with the big boobs is Alehandra, Bo's wife. Bo is a really tall older gringo. The older brunnette is Tom's girlfriend, and also Alehandra's mother. You already know Tom.

She got married to a gringo and is very happy from what I hear. IIRC the two of them run some kind of Bed and Breakfast.

Counte,

Yeah......I know the gringo she was seeing on a regular basis. Getting married and starting a bed and breakfast must have happened very quickly. I saw the pair of them together while walking downtown last July. Neither mentioned anything about marriage or starting a business. She told me that she was working part time at Shannon's Pub tending bar.

While I was there last Christmas Tom's wife didn't tend bar at all but 2 of her daughters did. Alejandra was Bo's lady friend. Her sister was the younger one who often tended bar in back. Tom's wife is very thin and had long black hair at that time. She chain smokes and did sewing for people, selling pillows and such. Bo arrived on his motorcycle and seemed to have a host of big ideas and an unending supply of high end Bacardi rum. I wouldn't miss Bo much but the sisters were nice.
