I have been to San Jose 3 times, but I have never been to Jaco and the beatles bar. How does the BB compare to HDR? What time does the BB close in the evening? I have not been able to locate any trip reports this year that discuss Jaco or BB.

My last trips to Jaco (in May and June) were pretty decent and I pulled some nice chicas at the BeatleBar. You will do especially well there Tues Wed and Thurs nites. There are usually lovely GFE Dominicanas available at the off-peak rate. Fri and Sat the ratios are in the girls favor and they can easily find work at their price. But if money is no object you'll find what you need. Sunday and Monday are just slow...not much goin on but yes there are opportunities.

The Beatle Bar has been put up for sale recently...kinda old news so maybe there is a new owner no se...also they have jacked up the drink prices BIG TIME and are toying with the idea of a cover... Like Little Havanna Hotel (old ZB) its best to go there with half a load on to avoid wasting your chica money on booze.

El Bohio on the beach is tranquilo and you can pick up a gringa your age or independent working girl around their 6pm Promocion 2X1.

Also call in at Bubba's for the fish Taco (thanx Boudmon :) )

I would echo most of what PR said about BB, I was there in May as well, and went to BB Thur, Fri, and Sat. Definitely DO NOT start your drinking there like PR said as well, you will slowly go broke :!: As has been mentioned everywhere on the board, bring and pay in colones, the exchange there will crush you. Also, lots of Nicas, but there are all kinds of shapes and sizes at BB. The girls are WAY aggressive, or were in May at least. Have a seat and let them come to you. Enjoy.

PR, when I was there the Monkey Bar was closed, have you heard that it was back open :?:

Tste,

The Monkey Bar was still Closed when I was last there at the end of June. Something about not paying their bills  :?: Maybe someone has more current intel...

As an alternative try the Jungle Bar a few blocks to the east. My wing GetRhythm and I pulled some really sweet young non-pros out of there at 1 am and took em back to our suite at the Canciones del Mar for a few hours...for only 20k! :D :D

look under my snippetts collection trip reports. there should be a jan.- claritas; apr-condo; jun-cocal jaco shoutouts. although thirdworld would be the point man if I had any jaco specific questions.

Monkey Bar has supposedly been purchased by a few gringos that want to bring it back better then ever. They're currently remodelling the inside. My friends and I were there and saw a few of them standing outside on a Tuesday afternoon, but never did venture over to get the straight scoop from them. So... what I know is truly hearsay. But the rumors that I heard had it opening back up in early 2009.

Would say about BB that we really didn't like the selection (IMO) in there at all on the 2 days we were in town. Maybe because of the rain, maybe because the fight was going on and everyone was watching that on PPV or whether b/c the selection just wasn't there, I can't really say. We were there Saturday, and Sunday night... didn't bother on Monday night b/c it was so poor the other two days. Compared to HDR... there is no comparison - HDR, BM and KL and SL win hands down. And everyone is correct ... the prices are closer to NYC prices then CR prices for drinks.

However, would say Jaco is still worth the trip ... especially when BB and MB are both open at the same time come 2009.

They can start by turning the volume down a few notches, that in itself should do the trick.

I go to Jaco every trip to CR. Some love it and some hate it you need to make the trip for your self. take the express bus its only $3 it is a great drive.

One more thing about Jaco, stay out of that strip club on the south end of town. It is upstairs above a restraint on the right side of the street. I went the on my first trip and dropped around $200 it was like $50 on drinks and $150 on bad lap dances. Save your cash, go have a drink at the BB and see what you can find there.

Thanks for the info Rock. We will be there in a couple months and I am using the board to avoid some of the other guys pitfalls. I was about to rent a car, but we may just save the money and take the express bus if the money is right

Jaco is a dump.

If you haven't been to a beach in 6 months or so, and are jonesing for a beach, it's fun...

Other than that, I can't imagine going...

I've gone with my gf, and my best friend because he hadn't gone... that's pretty much it...

I've spent as much as 5 days there, and as little as 3 hours...

REALLY... Jaco is not worth the trip...

Jaco is the ultimate YMMV. I have spent a great deal of my life on the Gulf Coast , from Texas to Florida and still truly have a great time every time I go.

As others have mentioned, Jaco is what you make of it. If you are looking for a beautiful beach- go to Manuel Antonio. If you are looking for a fun little beach party town then Jaco is your place.

As Phoenix mentioned- def hit up Bubbas's if you go! Fantastic fish tacos! You can also order from there and chill at the bar\hotel across the way if you want to have a beer or two with your tacos.

It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are going just for the girls then I wouldn't leave San Jose. However, if you want to do activities such as Zipline Canopy tour, fishing, touring Manuel Antonio park, or surfing then it's great.

When I went to Beatle Bar in early December there were probably 5 girls to each guy (100 girls, 20 guys) and most girls were fairly attractive, with some head turners. I hooked up with a lady that lives about 3 hours away from there and goes to Jaco for a week each month. I had a great time with her and we spent 3 hours together the first night and 5 hours together the next night and the best part is she was SUPER between the sheets. The girls are very aggressive. Grab a seat and they will come to you. I sent all of them away and did a quick tour of the talent on the way to the men's room and invited 2 ladies to join my friend and I.

By the way, the 1.5 hour trip took over 3 hours. You can grab a flight from San Jose (I believe Nature Air) which is what I would do if I went again.

On drink and food prices I will agree that they they were high... I guess they figure they have a captive audience.
