The cab will run out of gas before you find a good pizza.

Good one... and probably true if you mean REALLY good pizza... I had a great pizza out in Montezuma on the Nicoya Peninsula though - a place called something like Pizza Pizza! (repeated word, I forget exactly but there's only one other pizza joint in that town)
I agree Hiker Tom, I'm not in San Jose for expensive restaurants. I've yet to find one there that was really worth it. Often I just eat at Taco Bell or grab some pizza, or another good place for cheap eats if you don't mind vegetarian is Vishnu behind the Gran Hotel de Costa Rica (next street back on the north side of the street).
I think I had the pizza at Pizza Hut on Ave. Central once and it was okay; but the one out on Paseo Colon was horrible. I may try Akropolis as you mentioned.
I'll try Costa Del Sol, I'll try that. Im just looking for "good", not great.
Seems like someone could make a go of a good New York or Chicago Style pizzeria in San Jose... But maybe it's a problem finding the right kind of cheese? I'm sure it could be done... Though I doubt Ticos would pay around $20 for a large like they do here in So Cal.
