I've been looking at the job board in craiglist and there seems to be accounting jobs that pay 9 dollars an hour. I think other jobs are paying much lower.

before they shut down all the sportbooks that were serving the usa...i had got to know a few american guys who were making about 40 to 50 grand a year working as a employee ...at least that is what they told me so they both seemed to be non bullshiters ....they both were in sportbooks making wagers for themselves so it seemed as they had some cash to blow ..

Online sportsbooks were the golden goose.

Now if you want to make good $$$ in Costa Rica, your best bet is to employed by a foreign company and be based there.

For 4 months in 2004, my former wife was paid $10,000 a month to set up a sportsbook call centre, she'd consult/train many others who were making $5/hr and were quite grateful to get that.

But the former wife (anchor that kept me from enjoying life as I felt I should) was paid by a Canadian company already operating a sportsbook on Indian land in Quebec. She told me the managers made $35-$40K annually and lived like kings

They did not shut down all the sportsbooks serving the USA, over 100 still operate in CR.

I interviewed someone who had worked for Gilette in Boston a few years ago and she was available because her job (finance/accounting) was being replaced by someone in CR.

There must be a least some good jobs there?

The most likely reason her job was outsourced to Costa Rica is because the Tico replacement is working for a small percentage of her salary, is working 5 1/2 days a week with no overtime, has health care provided by government doctors in government clinic, etc.

If that is the definition of a "good job" in Costa Rica, and it is, most gringos will pass.

Investment or your own business should be the best turn around to make money in CR. Hell, my cousin's dad is a lawyer and he doesn't make much equivalent to what a lawyer makes in the states; doesn't even touch it.
