It is called Longhorn Beef and Ribs and it located next to 7th St books on calle 7 between Av Central and Av 1. The beef is from argentina as is the chef. The chef used to own the restaurant Che's in Escazu.

It opens tommorrow and there is a 50% discount fri, sat and sunday. It serves american breakfasts, lunch and dinner.

I have no stake in the place, I just know gringos are on an endless largely unfulfilled quest for good beef in San Jose. And this place is right in the gulch. The prices seem reasonable also.

Actually, I kind of like the steak at the Del Rey. Weird, I know, but true.

On the subject of Argentine beef restaurants.....I was told several days ago by an employee of La Esquinas Buenos Aires, that they have rented the building next door to them and are planning to expand and enlarge within the next few months.

I ate there yesterday with a friend and we both thought it was one of the best steaks we have ever eaten. It comes with a baked potato, salad, and bread. The price varies according to the cut. Between 7 and 9$ plus tax and service.

I was told it is not argentine beef but beef aged in the argentine manner.

Z.......Don't you mean 7 mil to 9 mil, not $7 to $9? I think the house steak, vacio, served with a baked potato and salad is about 7 mil.

No the prices are clearly marked 3500 to 3900 col for most of the steaks. Plus 13% tax and 10% service.

A great price for a great steak. I think these are intro prices that will go up in awhile.

Everyone that I know who has eaten there so far have loved the steak and the prices.

The decor is plain and the grill is right at the front window.

Hi Zebra,
We are talking about a new restaurant that opened yesterday on calle 7, next to 7th street bookstore... The prices for steaks are between 3700 colones and 4800 for a lomito.

Does anyone know if this pricing is still good or was it just for last weekend as stated in the initial post?

Guys Ate there today . They open at 6:30 a.m. or so and are open until at least 9:30 p.m. . I had the pork chops and my friend the tenderloin. Tasted his and it was great. My chops were as well. You get a bowl of soup and salad and the meal also comes with baked potato.Located between Morazan and Presidente . Also the thrift store on the Morazan side of the place has some great shirts for $ 3.00 each. Walked out with a $ 50 golf shirt that looked brand new. Back to the steak house . The meal was great beef was tender and cake topped it off. Guys you should give it a try. Some of the bosses from the Presidente were eating there and I saw them talking to Paul the owner. He came over happy and said they told him how good it was. They also have football on TV for us as well. My chops were 3,800 and my friends huge tenderloin was 4,600 c . $ 7.00 to $ 8.50 in American money.
