Is tapeworm a big problem with the Ch*ldren in Costa Rica ??? In the last month I have received three seperate requests for money for treatment of tapeworm.

The three girls as far as I know are not working girls, of limited means just trying to get buy with their K*ds and deadbeat husbands. I know the three DO NOT know each other. Two asked for $100, one for $150.

Could this be possible or is tapeworm the flavor of the month ???

TIA

i live in Costa Rica and have Ch*ldren in school here, As well as help out at another school as a volunteer and i have not heard of anything concerning this although it is entirely possible.
My bet would be its just the scheme of the month. i guessing the i'm pregnant or my mother and or Ch*ldren are sick scheme is wearing thin.

I tend to be a sucker for a sob story, but it is my understanding that health care for Ch*ldren is free until they reach 18 years old. Anyone out there able to verify that?

Bilko,

i believe you are correct in anyone under the age of 18 has free health insurance. 18 plus years old is insured as long as you are legally employed and the employer is paying the CAJA.

For God's sake Holden, we are only talking about $350 to take care of tapeworms in 3 kids--how could you live with yourself if anything happened to these ninos. And while you are at it, send a few extra ciens, just in case the mother, dogs, cousins, etc succumb to the dreaded tapeworm epidemic
Donde es su corazon??

A couple of days ago one of my regulars was at my house and as usual wanted to check her email-- a couple of them even ask me to help by translating emails they recieve and by writing what they want to send into english. Not sure just what it says about me when a chica writes a RFM in spanish and then asks me to write it in english to send to a gringo. Have actually done it a couple of times and included a warning to the guy without her knowing it. This happened the other day, and the chica was asking for help with paying for doctor and meds for her 3 K*ds problem with "tapeworms". Funny thing is, I know her and have for a long time and she only has one K*D and he is 12years old and does not have tapeworms. Needless to say, I refused to send the email.

So, YES, this does seem to be the latest "RFM" scam the chicas have come up with
