Yesterday I had something happen at the DR that seems to be happening more often lately. I invited a chica that I have never seen before to my table to have a drink. We were chatting and seemed to be getting along well. Then her two friends came by and sat at the next table. One of them gave her the cheapscate sign. (rubbing the elbow) I happened to get a glimpse. So I asked the chica "how much" and she firmly responded "cien". Now I think this chica would normally be very happy with my normal $50-60 but of course she held firm on $100 because of her friends. I HAVE NEVER SPOKEN to either of her friends but they are HARDCORE REGULARS at the DR. so if you think these chicas don't talk to eachother about us,THINK AGAIN. Personally, I don't mind it when chicas tell eachother that I am cheap, because it saves me time with the ones that I wouldn't want anyways.

I know you don''t give a Phuck. There are plenty of others who happily accept what you're offering.

I consider receiving the cheapskate sign (at two or three times a trip) a badge of honor 8) 8)

Yes, they DO talk to each other. Another point that should be emphasized is that if you want to negotiate with ANY Del Rey chick and plan to offer her less than $100, make sure she and you are alone, away from her friends and yours as well. There is a lot of peer pressure in that little lunchroom, and just as we mongers give each other shit for paying full price, they give each other shit for not getting full price. I've had lots of girls agree to less than retail with the promise that I never tell anyone how much I paid.

Exactly. As I've said before, I've overheard and been directly told some phucked up stories or comments they say about us. Not saying anyone should be overly concerned, its just better if your rep is in good standing. Trust...

Basic strategy:

separate them from the pack. Don't threaten her position in the pack. In every transaction there is three prices. The one she tells her friends she got, the one she actually got and the one you told your friends you paid. They are rarely all three the same. We all want to feel good about ourselves and what we do. How we perceive other people see us is important to us. They are no different respect that.

One other important point. When you live here (as I do) and frequent the DR often (as I do) and take many chicas home (as I do) it's imperitive that you NOT pay full price because since the chicas talk amongst themselves so much, you will be labeled a "retail customer" instead of a wholesale one. To pay full price when you are only here a couple of weeks a year isn't that important financially, however it can really add up if you live and monger here full time.

Some excellent points made here by VB, Bilko and Lee. Yes the chicas sit together and talk talk talk about us as they wait for plata. Most of the full time working girls know us, the full-time mongerers...even if we don't know who they are. They how how much we drink, how much we will likely pay, how we smell, our favorite positions, penis size, how long it normally takes to C*m...etc etc... They talk about how much their RFM novios send them and laugh about what idiots they are. They speak about their clients derisively in general and use the term "mae" often. They will even do this in ear-shot of their clients, thinking they can speak their language safely with an english-only gringo at their side. Most of the girls have little respect or affection for us, and I think every monger new and old really needs to understand this. Occaisionally a puta may develop genuine feelings for a client, but she would be a fool to reveal it to her sisters-in-arms. They would rip her a new asshole immediately.

VB brings up another interesting point about "retail" and "wholesale" customers. I had a FAR better experience as a retail customer. With a month or two between visits, walking into the HDR was always exciting and while you recognized the regulars there was always enough fresh faces to get your blood flowing. As more of a "regular" now I am pretty bored in the HDR most of the time. The same faces night after night. I'm not going to do business with them and they know it. It's no longer the "fantasy" experience it once was. Of course sitting at the tables with the goombas and watching the panocha parade is always entertaining...and I do enjoy lying in wait for the solo newbie to walk in a vez en cuando...that's always sweet...sweet, but time - consuming. Bottom line for me though, I think the HDR is really designed for the 3-4 time a year crowd on vacation. To turn it into a lifestyle, well, personally, I'm just not getting it.

I'm with ya PR. When I had a place in SJ, I ended up not spending much time in the gulch. It actually became depressing to me after a while. The monotony of it.... The faces change but the dynamic and the characters are the same everytime you are there.

I would have to agree with you on this PR.I plan on 3 trips per year to CR so it isn't boring to me. I like to change destinations so that i never tire of one place and begin to see the bad side that every place has.The gulch is blast but i doubt that i could ever spend more than 4-5 days at a time there(kind of how i feel about Vegas).8)For me, better places to be long term would be Medellin or Guadalajara.

Of course, I am differant, no way they are referring to me, but I have heard some of us older fellas referred to as "Tutenkhamens."

I wonder which one of the girls studied Ancienty History?

And more importantly, which one of you old farts is getin' it on like a mummy?
