First trip last Aug, as decribed in above titled subject. This will be 4th trip in a year. I will be down 8-15--8-19 bringing new wingman. Only problem is I had to promise I would go fishing. Looking for some freshwater action close to SJ. Do not want to be gone overnight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry guys, but I must disagree. And my comments are not W.O.S. (word on the street), or hearsay. I've got a little experience on the water, and I've fished every month of the year in CR. I guess it just depends who you're fishing with. But simply by saying "FISHING SUCKS IN AUGUST" ? Not only is that your opinion (not factual), but it is also mis-leading.

Last weekend, the fishing was fantastic. Also, look at my fishing reports from August '07, '06, '05 and '04. That might change your mind. I'd post the links here, but I'm too lazy to look for them. And I'll make sure to post a fishing report, after I go fishing in August '08 (the day before the big CRT Party).

It's a hulluva ride from San Jose, but Lake Arenel is doable in a day trip. Reportedly really great lake trout fishing. And, I've heard that the view of the volcano from the water is spectacular. Bring your rain gear.
