How much does CR SUCK?
CR SUCKS MAJOR ASS- Rarely a BBBJ, overpriced chicas with lousy attitudes & service, better off going someplace else that puts CR to shame even if it costs more. 8%  8%  [ 8 ]
CR SUCKS- but is convenient, affordable and worth putting up with the SUCKness factor. 3%  3%  [ 3 ]
CR SUCKS OCCASIONALLY- and is not what it used to be but still can be fun for the money. 20%  20%  [ 20 ]
CR RARELY SUCKS- there can be moments like anyplace else but for the most part it's still fun and meets my expectations 26%  26%  [ 26 ]
CR DOESN'T SUCK- Are you crazy? CR rocks and is still a blast, the negative reports must be pessimists that look for the worst and probably wouldn't be happy anyplace. 43%  43%  [ 43 ]

All the more reason to post it Devo. What good is a forum if members are afraid to post their honest opinions on places they visit, experiences with P4P women and places of business for fear of upsetting someone? Who cares if someone disagrees or wants to argue about it, share your experience. I've heard (via PM) that guys have bad sessions, crazy women, overpaid and even got ripped off in Rio but for some reason we never read about any of that here. Is there some sort of unwritten code not to say anything negative about "the greatest mongering place on earth"?

Devo - I second PL sentiment here. Post, post, post. You are probably concern with the attacks on other threads, but normally that is because of their use of words and actually calling attention to themselves. Trolls will be trolls. Write from your heart and try to stay away from bigotry and racially motivated statements and we will respect your opinion whether we agree or disagree with you.

yes, do post. Knowing the negative stuff is just as important as knowing the good stuff. Avoiding bad experiences by being informed lets people focus on the good ones.

As for the trips to Asia, living in the PNW it's almost the same trip for me to go to Asia as it is to south America, but for me it's no contest. While the GFE is Asia is unquestioned I find the overall skill level significantly below that of the latina. I'll keep going to Peru, DR, Cuba and yes, CR, although I'm certainly planning to explore some off the main drag destinations like Ecuador (my possible next trip)

I've never been to Rio, but knowing that language makes the trip and services more enjoyable and productive has kept me away from there, since I don't speak portuguese. I'll make it there one day, since most seem to enjoy it so much, but from what I keep hearing about crime and prices I'm in no particular rush. With the whole world to choose from if you don't like someplace then go someplace else.

Agreed. The last two poster summed up my feelings well also. File on the guy with the differnt opition is a safe game to play for those who want to "fit in."

To answer the question- I do not believe it sucks. I just believe, as has been started, that you do have to work harder there for a killer, PSE/GFE quality session. Sometimes, I wish I did not have to interview as many until I was comfortable that I would get what I have come to expect in a session. I think some of it has to do with the increase mongers, the increaseing disparity of income in CR and the decline of its middle class, in increase in hardcore girls, and my own expectations.

It is still a great place, with enough diversity of mongering venues that I can get it all. The prices, again with work, are still reasonsble.

As Shadowman said, there are a lot of places I still want to go, and that has nothing to do with the quality of CR. I traveld Latin America before mongering, so it is natural that I would want to still travel and see where I have not been.

Asia, while I am sure I will get there some day, has little appeal to me. I love Latino culture, and love the passion of Latinas. Whatever floats your boat.

I also want to hit Rio at some point, but like Shadowman- a big part of what makes my "game" work for me is the fact that i speak the language fairly well.

Well I found this little disturbing avatar one night & it just looked like guys flaming each other on their keyboards, which sorry to say seems to go with forums in general.....it kind of puts it in perspective I thought :) .

I will get rid of it soon because I found a better one that fits our hobby much better I believe  .

That avatar is really about the size of it, self-inflicted, and a complete waste of time and energy...

I won't express any further opinions on Costa Rica, but let me chime in and urge Devo to post his Rio trip report. Yes, there are big fans of Rio on the board, but no place is perfect. The overwhelming passion of the place can cut both ways, as I found out in spades. It would be interesting and enlightening to hear a different perspective.

I have avoided the recent "discussion" of what I consider a less than useful debate on whether or not CR sucks, but there are some points that I would like to make.

My trip to CR two weekends ago was my worst of over 30 trips to various places in the last 10 1/2 years. But I realized the problem was more a personal case of just not "feeling it" rather than an indictment on CR as a trip destination. It also caused me to reevaluate my plans to attend the CRT Anniversary weekend and ultimately cancel my reservations, something I booked months ago.

As for RIO, I had initially intended to return this year but the economics forced me to change those plans and head back to Thailand instead. As for those of you who have hesitated visiting RIO all I can say is save up and go. Having been there with 25 other CRT members really made it a trip to remember.

Don't let a lack of Portuguese stop you. It has very many similarities to Spanish and English is also used there. Get a copy of Pimsleur I for Portuguese and you'll be fine.

Anyone who has put off visiting Thailand should really take the time to check it out. Granted, for me it does not compare to the Latin experience in the areas of culture, music, food or language but it was still a very enjoyable vacation and I'm looking forward to returning.

I will be returning to Medellin soon and I intend to make my initial trip to the Philippines next Spring.

I got a late start on traveling and finding what works for me (I was 44). Now I'm not only expanding my horizons but also looking for a place to live outside the U.S.

If you limit yourself to only mongering when visiting a different country then you are doing an injustice to that country as well as yourself. Get out and meet the "real" people. Discover the things that make that country interesting and you might even discover some new things about yourself.

Don't let the opinions of others deter you from traveling or posting about the places you visit. It's all part of the life experience. You have to find what works for you. Where you find your own pace and what makes you feel good about selecting it. We are all different people but the sharing of experiences is what adds value to being a part of it all.

As for Costa Rica, it offers many different things to different people. No matter where you travel take what you learn and what you enjoy and apply those things to make it a positive experience. If a place is not for you then make your point and move on. There is a limit to the amount of bashing we need to read on any place.

I voted that it sucks ass because I'm here and Paco isn't. :D

I also want to point out that Jaco really does suck.

Oh, I don't know. I would have to say that on balance I've had a better time in Jaco this trip than in San Jose (albeit with more nights to work with) - talent in the Beatle Bar is easily on par with the Del Rey or Key Largo, and you can get the girls to come off of cien more readily with the current ratios of gringos to chicas.

Though the BBBJ remains strangely elusive in either place. Also have to say that I still prefer the open-air, casual atmosphere Beatle Bar of before to the current upscale version, with it's outrageously high drink prices.

Would highly recommend to anyone coming down here to definitely check out the beach club scene a little further down in Playa Hermosa - good live music and a nice casual vibe all overlooking a very pretty beach much preferable to Jaco.
