I had a few questions for my trip coming up next week. And yes, I haev done research and a lot of reading.
First, I can see that Zona Blue, Idem, New Fantasy are the main bars. What about Oasis, Bonitas, Le Grillion, Club Flamingo, Eros & The Pirate Club? Are they still good?

I am thinking of staying at the Del Rey. I know how it is but are there any major advantages ( as far as the girls) in staying at Sportsman Lodge or the Presidente? Do girls "hang out" at these 2? Can you bring them up easy?

Has anyone had any good experience or info on regular dance clubs to go to? ( Me & my friends are fairly young party animals and would like to meet some 'non-pros' also).

Do many of the Ticas smoke? Are most of the places non-smoking - or is smoking allowed?

Finally, are there any good strip clubs other than Pantera? ( where girls can have sessions at the club)?

Thanks guys. I hope I did not break any rules. If I did, I apologize in advance and thank anyone who can give me any good info.

Those are the main MP's I would say. The DR/BM/KL are the main bars really. The other older Mp's you mentioned are still around but not much reported on them as of late. Maybe BangBang can assist you with this.

No major advantages staying at the SL with the girls rather than the DR other than maybe you wont seem so cliche' staying at the DR. I've never stayed there and never would. SL is always my choice. I see other advantages staying there, nothng per say with chicas. Although there are chicas that hang out there everyday.

BKTuna can fill you in on some of the bar/dance scene outside the gulch. But if this is your first trip, I wouldn't waste too much time looking for non-pros unless you are fluent.

And lastly, I've been waiting for a "good" strip club in CR ever since I joined this board with no luck
Yes, plenty of girls down there smoke and you can smoke anywhere.

Jadcujo,

Hey man I really appreciate your response. I have read until my head hurts and really wanted some updated info so thanks a lot. I'm a veteran on another site - so I know how the system works, just new to Costa Rica.

So does anyone have any other info you can share with me? Btw...I do speak Spanish so that's not a problem. I am thinking of starting at the DR but possibly switch (hotels) somewhere else if I need to.
Also, have prices really went up to $100 in DR & $60 or so for the major bars? Wow... (inflation, gas prices or just plain old greed)...lol

I would say staying at the DR is a disadvantage in terms of the ladies, in that I think it encouraged quick sessions. Others may disagree, but it riding up the elevator makes the fantasy part of our game a wee bit harder, and I think makes it more likley that you will be treated as a John (yes, we know you are, but being treated as one is not what most of us want).

The Pres is a good place to stay- there have been problems with their dress code policy over the last year- some of the more provocativly dressed girls get turned away at the door. Also, you can only bring in one girl.

The SL is like cheers/frat house vibe, working girls on premises, but not as many and none after the bar closes. The rooms are great in the new wing. A good fun place to chill.

Dance clubs abound- El Pueblo is fun- watch yourself. I am not up on the latest dance clubs.

As far as strip clubs- Le Grillion had some very nice talent and not a high pressured vibe two months ago...

Satino,
Welcome to the board. The fact that you speak español is a major plus for you! Althought it's not totally necessary, it certainly helps with the overall experience.

Stay at the Prez or the SL. They're both different, but they're both good in their own way. If you split it up between both hotels, you'll be able to see the difference, and then you can make a better decision on where you want to stay on your next trip.

As far as everything else...... just fuhgeddaboudit! Don't make plans ahead of time, because there's a 99.73 % chance that it'll all go to shit as soon as you hit town.

Just go there and enjoy yourself. Once you get on the ground and get your bearings, you can start to make plans. Just be very careful about walking around at night. Better to take a cab wherever. And don't wear flashy jewelry. It's not necessary, and just makes you a target.

Welcome to the board.

MG

Welcome to the board Satino. I just came back from CR and you can read my trip reports. I will add to the Hotel list, La Amistad. Nice hotel and the ladies just melt on the penthouse suites.

Pueblo is a club venue with several clubs. Lots of booze and frequent altercations abound. Be cool.

My fav is Bar Castro in the downtown area. The chicas will actually come over and ask YOU to dance. Didn't appear to be working girls there. If there were, they weren't working. Very friendly and well supervised. Take a cab to the door and ask the bouncer to call you a cab when you leave. Mostly salsa and reggaeton. Disfruta!

Thanks guys for the info. Its nice to be on a site where people are actually helpful.. :D

I would still like a little more info on a couple of things I asked, but the main thing I am researching now is the CRT VIP card. I need to see how to get it and what benefits it will give me. I have not seen anything yet for DR or Pantera but I will keep reading. I leave next Thursday so I hope its not too late to get it. I think ( I hope) it will save me money on ZB, Idem and Pantera. If that is the case, it would be worth it. Not sure if I can get into Sportsman Lodge yet, but I will check. Any info?

PS: Oh, the new map is great. Whoever did it deserves a lot of credit. I was just curious to know if it is now pretty up to date and accurate? Thanks
