As painful as it was then, at least you could re-fi your house to fill your tank. Now we have subdivisions especially the half-finished ones being turned into 21-st Century slums, filling up with crackheads and other lowlifes. This is not supposition on my part; the info comes from an Atlantic Monthly article a couple of months ago. Don't you wish you'd put in a John Denver-style 10K underground tank and filled it then? But wait then you'd have to sing about how grand Nature is and other assorted hypocrisies. Never mind.

I was curious and did a lookup on where we buy oil. Here are some results that I found:

I pay about 35,000 C notes in CR to fill my truck. By the December of this year, all gas will be mixed with ethanol and diesel will be mixed with biodiesel in CR. They are already getting the pumps and wells ready. I wonder what the heck that will do to prices? I imagine they go up again.

Another thing I've learned - the gas price per liter is set by the govt. You cannot compete at the gas station level. Does it make sense to deregulate this bullshit along with utilities?

In VA and MD they already mix gas with ethanol. It is 10% of the fuel. Not sure about other states.

Ahhh.... Southland. That would have been 7-11, Tandy Leather, Radio Shack and a few others. That was about the time that Southland was controled by the Thompson Brothers from Irving, Texas. Yes, they got my company too, along with Ranger Bassboats. Borrowed millions and millions against it and also sold junk bonds against the whole shooting match. Paid it to themselves in bonuses and then threw the whole works up in the air.

NO. BIG NO! Unless I used that much every six months....

Good idea but gas gets stale rather quickly and when it does go bad is basically waste (less than 6 months time). It basically gums up and will clog the engine. They have to keep rotating the product and when the major companies have held it too long they sell at a discount as long as they can to all the smaller stations to get rid of it.
