The profiling at the HDR is based on who they think is local vs tourist, not on a racial basis. I have younger friends here who dress more "street". They get patted down everytime and are lily white.

As tp prejudices, as with most of the world they are plentiful here. Light skinned vs darker skinned hispanics, Tica/Nica etc.

Mexidan who is US Citizen of Mexican descent saw some of this when he spoke fluent spanish with a Mexican accent to the Chicas.

Unfortunately I ahve yet to be anywhere in the world where some real level of ethnic, religious or racial bias did not exist. There is a lot of social anthropology work written on it that ties it back to our most basic tribal group roots.

To back up Bktunas remarks, it can get down to an intra-tribal thing. Consider: Marines and sailors in a bar, then mixing in some Army guys=Naval service vs. Army; then only sailors and Marines=sailors vs. Marines; then only Marines=unit vs. unit. Hell, if any of them are schizzy, they beat themselves up! (Just kidding with that one). I wonder if any of the great apes do this stuff.
