37 per 100,000 of getting killed in Columbia, 100 per 100,000 of getting aids via unprotected sex with a high risk partner.

Kind of puts it in perspective...

Chill man. Maybe I missed one but I found just one guy who posted in this thread that used "U' rather than "O" on a consistent basis.

What the hell does how you spell it add or detract from your comments on the subject?

You'll notice, I used it correctly earlier in the sentence. But my brain farted later.

OK TP I admit it, Im stressing a little. My novia is back in Bogota. She had a good scare Saturday during the earthquake. She told me you should have seen the people pouring outside of the buidings. Finishes up at the Embassy tomorrow and here the next week.

My apologies to any and all I have offended during this thread. Guess I'll have to start using spell check.

Edit: odd, this is the url to this thread.. not sure how that happened, but the correct url is here now

Your extrapolation that every person is 1/3 more likely to be killed than contract AIDS is as flawed as they come. There are numerous risk factors that increase or decrease one's chances of being murdered. To extrapolate from a simple data set, 37 murders per 100,000 and conclude that one is 1/3 more likely to be murdered than contract AIDS is like trying to add 2 and 2 and get 436.87. All risk factors are not the same for all people. For example, I walk into the hood and proclaim to the black folks standing around they are a bunch of no good, sorry mo fo n-word I have effectively INCREASED my chances of not returning home alive. On the other hand, I walk into a upper class neighborhood walking my dog and minding my own business the risk factor for being murdered doesn't compare.

Learn Spanish, get out of the gulch, practice Spanish, pick out nice normal non-hooker Latina, speak to her in Spanish, go out on numerous dates with no expectation of having sex, meet the family, eventually have sex, ask for her hand in marriage, marry.

I agree with Rainman and Bilko. You gotta be there for it to work. Given my working girl/novia experience I don't know I don't know if I could ever trust that a working girl/novia 100%.

I have ( had?? ) a non working girl who I dated 3 times in San Jose. It's still very difficult unless she has lots of bucks. The woman I met was a a hairdresser named Teresa. Teresa was very nice but couldn't pass the tourist visa test because she didn't have a verifiable savings account. We tried twice at $150 a pop using different stragedies.

I'm going back to dating norteamericanas for now. They're more easily available and can pay there own way. The economy is no longer good here (California) and I've been laid off. Having lost my high paying job I'm no longer the sugardaddy and having a woman I won't have to totally support becomes more important.

It is actually very, very easy provided you meet 2 criteria:

1) Learn to speak Spanish on a conversational level.

2) Move to Costa Rica

If you meet those two requirements, you are then free to hit on every woman walking down the street and they will virtually all be receptive if you make a modest attempt to make yourself presentable.

Oh, yeah and get out of the gulch. It is actually very easy.

Forget about it if you don't speak Spanish and you are not living in Costa Rica. You will get played.

Great thread!

I should've read it more closely before dating a non-pro twice on my last trip. We had two wonderful dates and due to sessions I had earlier in the day, I was completely relaxed and didn't pursue anything physical. I'm now sitting on the fence wondering if I just met a very careful tica who's not giving anything up until she's 100% sure about me OR was I played for two nights out that she likely can't afford?

I know guys say this is a waste of time in CR due to Visa restrictions as well, but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.

Try hanging out at the Tinta Blanca in Tres Rios. It's a pub with solo music and a very friendly crowd.

I knew a woman who was with a 36 yr old gent merely for money, and since he couldn't move to CR yet anytime soon he just trusted her fully for the hell of it and went to CR every 3-4 months. She'd be an angel while he'd be there, but when he'd leave she'd go out with other men. He'd send her money occasionally. Very heartbreaking when he found out she was going out with someone else.
Same thing with another woman I know of the American bought her an apartment, paid for her education, all the money etc., etc. and she was phucking other guys in that apartment and going out.
If you seek out a Latina, but can't move outta the U.S come to South FL. That's the best I can say. OR if you can retire/move to CR then do so, and happy hunting, no worries there :). Point is you gotta be present, if your potential wife is hot/pretty that attracts a lot of attention and some asshole decides to hit on her then it's a 60/40 chance. LEARN Spanish well as others have said. I believe it's kind of awkward to be around someone who doesn't know much Spanish in CR, by putting myself in the Tica's shoes . Not to mention communication is very important.

USMC6056 You are 41 and I think you said someplace you had never been married. My question is why would you want to at this point?

Seriously, I am not flaming on you. But this is more than just a major step. You are voluntarily risking everything you own, everything you have worked for, including your own peace of mind. In considering marriage, one must clearly understand the purpose of getting married. You must also understand that things change after the knot it tied.

Write it down: Reasons I want to get married.

Then go back to it after a couple of months and see if you still agree with what you wrote.

Once you can clearly, and I mean clearly, articulate coherent, rational, balanced, practical reasons why to get married, then Counte Dante has given some pretty sage advice about seeking one already in the States.

Too many women just want that free ticket to the US and US Immigration knows that. They will not be friendly and moving her to the US will be hard, expensive and unbelievably frustrating.

Imagine you’re a PFC, moist but not wet behind the ears. You ask Gunny for advice. What would he say? Here is a possible response I am sure you have heard before: “Private, put your right hand on your left ear; now put your left hand on your right ear; now jerk your head out of your ass.”

My point is that Immigration will be a more sophisticated yet an equally unsympathetic version of Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey.
