Those of you who are TACA frequent flyers with Silver, Gold, or Platinum status and enjoy those free upgrades can kiss them goodbye, as of this past weekend.

You can read all about it here: http://www.taca.com/eng/fre/finf/finfniv.asp The section entitled UPGRADES under each level is most interesting. And if you a buy the cheapest ticket, you don't even get 100% of the miles flown.

They decided to screw their frequent flyers directly in the ass with a big fat dildo. :x I sometimes wonder who makes these decisions within companies and how they advanced to such a position making such horrible business decisions.

They were always muy Tico in one form or another, but this new policy is Most Tico.

Bottom line: On my flight home yesterday, ALL 12 business class seats were free because nobody qualified to sit there. Cattle class was really great, I didn't sleep a fucken minute. Those C*ck suckers can take their new policy and shove it up their ass.

Sorry to hear that Orange. That really sucks for all you Taca frequent fliers.

Although it seems like only yesterday many on this board could find no fault with Taca. But I'll stick with my gringa airlines, AA and Delta.

Figures, just hit Plata about a week ago, now they PHUCK me in the ass, i have been upgraded 11 out of the last 12 trips and am recognized at the Taca check in Chicago now by 1st name....Very curious what my next trip will entail.

Its already at the point, for the 1st time in 2 years AA and Delta are cheaper than Taca from Chicago. $510 is the minimum price I have seen for travel through 7/31/08. AA and Delta are both well under $400.

Time to use up those frequent flyer miles and start looking elsewhere.

idk that there is a better option than taca out of LA... AA is a joke and their airplanes are REAL old. united rarely has decent pricing.
still don't get what the policy regarding upgrades is supposed to do but upset frequent customers. muy tico indeed.

Yes, this new policy was implemented just in time to phuck me over on my flight home from CR Wednesday the 14th - the very day it went into effect. Splendid timing indeed...loved that coach seat.

Yeah....I don't know what's going on with TACA. They used to have some cheap flights out of WASH/DULLES....but lately they've been higher than most all the other airlines. I guess it's just their time to "pay the piper." :?

Let's face it.....they're all taking a beating with the price of fuel way up. :(

I just booked a flight on USAIRWAYS for July; $430 TOTAL R/T out of Dulles. I would think that has to be a losing proposition for them. :( When you think about it, air travel is still real cheap. :) USAIRWAYS is flying me to and from Costa Rica for $215 each way :) .......Hell, it costs $90 to fill the gas tank on my car.

I've never flown TACA, but I'm assuming that the recent change means that upgrades are only available for non "economy" tickets? That sucks fellaz!!! Is there usually a large price differential between the tickets you buy and the tickets that qualify for an upgrade?

I've cast my lot with Continental. I've flown Delta and USAir, once each, to Costa Rica, but prefer CO.

Ciaociao

I am having an amazingly difficult time findinn e-mail for one of the follwing Taca Executives. I want to send a VERY professioanl letter to them (not that I think it will do any good, but will make ME feel better)

Chairman and CEO: Roberto Kriete
President: Alfredo Schildknecht
SVP and CFO: Joaquin Palomo

If any better Online researchers better than myself have any luck finding these, please post here or let me know. I will be happy to share both the letter I write and any reply I receive

Thanks in advance.
