SL has a lot of room selections. Is the standard regular good enough? Atleast a decent size bed or do I need to bump it up. Is there a safe in the room.

I stayed in the Felicidad on my trip and really enjoyed it. It has a huge bed and is right by the front door. This allows you to see the chicas coming in before anyone else if you are so inclined. That is the exact way I picked up on this one chica that had the best body I saw down there. But to answer a little of your question. The junior suites are quite nice. The quietest rooms I believe are in the new section. Call the front desk and ask them what room they gave you and the guys here will be a wealth of info.

Standard Regular is most likely going to be in the courtyard section, a little louder than the New Wing (Standard Deluxe and better)...

There will be day time noise and activity in the courtyard areas and surrounding bar area. The bar/restaurant open at 8 AM and closes at midnight when the lights go down and the most you will hear is the chicas high heels walking the hallway in front of your door, there is also a section in the back area we call the clubhouse which is vey quiet other than some minor street noise.

I have stayed at the SL on at least 10 of my 18 trips and have stayed in at least 14 of the 23 rooms (I have had to move rooms on occassion for my longer trips) I don't think there is a bad room there. Only problem I find is trying to find a room in the new wing on shorter than 2 months notice.... I like it a little quieter.

i can tell you one room you wont want....dont recall the name (something that starts with a A) as you stand at the check-in desk you pass up the wall that has all the flyers for rafting and trips and things , walk past some chairs and a couch , then keep walking (as they tell you take 2 right turns ) but here is what sucks about the room ...as i was taking a crap ,i am looking at the wall and i see a stream of ants going up and down the wall ...sucks to see them but didnt see any of them in the sink or shower. I had a burger from room service ,ate all of it and placed the plate on top of the tv when finished ,took a shower got readyand went out for the night ...came back to the room about 3 hours later and the plate is covered with ants ...needless to say my girl and i are both put off by it ...and didnt really know what to with it ...so i wash all the ants off into the toilet ...not what one would expect from a place that you are spending 60.00 a nite for (these ants have been in that room for a longtime ) i get home ..you guest it ..ants are in my bag....my flight left early the next day so i checked out the night before ...i get home and i have extra charges on my cc ...i had told them about me getting robbed and the guys who robbed me took my key to the room .....thanks sportmens for charging me for (guy at the desk ..told dont worry about it ) last 2 trips i have had concerns with sportmens (last trip i come out of my bathroom and some guy with a key is standing in the middle of my room looking around at my shit ..ipod , ipod docking station, bottles of liq.)it wasnt like you or myself walking into a room by mistake and saying "oh shit" someone has this room ...it was let me look around and see what's in here ....i walk down to tell the girl at the desk and her comment was ...they didnt take anything !!! ...the morazan at 41.00 a night keeps looking better .....no bugs and no floating keys ....no extra charges on my bill ...

I believe that room is named Amor. I'd only been to SJ once and that was the room I'd stayed in as it was a late booking. I had no problems with that room. It is a bit noisy outside during the day though. The chica I'd spent three sessions with would have prefered a more quieter room as she wanted to scream when I was banging her!

Have stayed in two of the standard regular rooms, Paz and Alegria. Both were nice enough, had the electronic safes and the beds were fine. Of the two I preferred Paz (although it was somewhat noisier). I have photos showing both, PM me if you want them.

One idea for either Bill or as a CRT project would be a floor plan of the SL, showing the names and locations of each room, perhaps color coded by room type.

Ask for a room in the new section and you will be happier. It is a great place to stay no matter which room. I spent a week in Esparanza one time. Not bad...and the only room I know of where you can get food, drinks and chicas without ever putting your pants on!

Has anyone ever stayed in the Junior Suite in the clubhouse section? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The "clubhouse" is a well kept secret. There are three available rooms and I think you can get the whole enchilada for around $150. The three rooms adjoin a large living room with a TV, couch and chairs, a bar and a library. Practically no one goes back there and you pretty much have the area to yourselves. The two rooms not on the street may be the quietest rooms in SL. The room on the street is quite small.

Be sure to ask for a room in the new section.

pacific ...that first room on the left once you pass the couch and chairs ..is the one i had with the ants roaming all over the place ...maybe that is why they built the new wing as at least in the room i stayed in ...they will need to do some major work to make that room right...iam really surprized that no one has commented about that ant problem before ? it was a real turn off for me ....and to find them in my bag pissed me off even more ...

That would be "Amor", one of the smallest rooms in the older section.

As for the ants, I suspect you are referring to the tiny little buggers, smallest ants I have ever seen (we have ants in the PNW...Carpenter ants, so named because a couple of them can eat a fir sawhorse in about 20 minutes and leave nothing but the hooves). The CR ants are so small that they look like pepper until they start moving.

I have found CR ants in every hotel I have stayed in except the Pres (it has bigger pro'lems, IMHO). The easiest way I have found to avoid the revulsion factor is not to leave food out in the room, especially anything sweet. They really are everywhere. I don't have a problem with the little buggers.

Now cockroaches? Costa Rica has them trophy-sized! I was standing in the middle of the street in front of SL one night, waiting for Big Jimmy to finish BSing with the guard and get in the damn car when I noticed a cockroach about twenty feet away, charging me straight on! This thing was two inches long and in attack mode. He must have been former USMC because all he knew was CHARGE! I lifted my boot and lowered it as he went under. CRUNCH! Ahhhhhh.......

Ran into a cockroach obviously trained by the 82nd in Zona Blue. One of the chicas was shaking her assets to the music and raining pinks when this quarter-pounder dropped to the "dance floor" from the rafters. She never missed a beat as she CRUNCHED him with an acrylic pump. I guess that's why they wear those 6" hooker heels; great cockroach crunchers.

Anyway.... If you forget and leave a little piece of sweet roll on your plate overnight, don't be surprised if there are ants in it come the morning. They are very small and often eat from beneath the leftover item. This can be disconcerting when you look closely at your snack as you are chewing a mouthful. Yes, Virginia, the poppy seeds are moving!

While I am a dedicated fan of SL, I do not like Amor. I was placed there one time, for 2 nites, and made a polite stink about it. Too small, no desk or working space, poor bathroom, too much noise and, at the time, a little long in the tooth (although I've heard its been refurbished). No problem with ants, however. :D

I have stayed in Amor (one night, I bitched about it publically on CRT after my one-night stay). Horrible.

Belleza: Right off the bar. Not bad, shower only.

Hermosa: Wonderful room. Big. Modern. Morning noise from kitchen/loading dock? Sound of breaking empties, etc. Otherwise, perfect.

Felicidad: The old section's former Junior Suite. Antique bed with dildos at the top of each post. Antique furniture. Sadly, it could use a deep cleaning.

I've never had bad service at the SL. Not once. Highly recommend, regardless of the room you choose.
