50, what exactly are you testing, and what happens if she passes? If she had passed and said "Oh, thank you mi amor, You are so sweet!" then what would you have done, send her more next time?

What is the point?

Counte you are on the right track you old bloodhound you. Since this young lady is not a p4p and raised in the evangelical Church by her father who is the Pastor of the church I figured that she might be a little more gracious when receiving a gift of any kind from a friend.

I would not expect more from an American woman or any other nationality of woman.

Now a little history.

In May I was presented to the family in the house at the church. Dinner was cooked and served. Blessings were given to the union!

The whole nine. I just expected a little more tact from a non pro with a Christian background Counte!

And the answer to your first question.
Yes. I was prepared to proceed with the plans discussed in May.

She is already on my checking account in San Jose Counte!

Counte of course changes will have to be made at the bank now due to the change in her status as my future novia / esposa to be!

So, if I understand this correctly, you have had a relationship with the PK that progressed to the point that you were thinking in terms of "me espousa" and now you are dropping her because she said that $50 was "poco dinero"? Lack of sufficient gratitude in a single email or poor communication skills was the deal breaker?

I don't know but it seems like you were pretty serious to let how she received $50 be the deciding factor. If her request and the need were real, then she may have been frustrated that the $50 was just not going to cover the tab. If, on the other hand, it was just another RFM and that was the clincher, why send any money at all?

Not trying to be critical, just trying to understand the logic. :?

Actually there was no RFM. There is however always a need for money it seems in Costa Rica. The deal breaker involves a lot more than can be covered in these short snippets.

Look at this way.

She expected more? I sent less than she expected!

There were also things that I was expecting during my absence that have not been followed through by her.

1. Missed appointments with the lawyer!

2. The lack of enthusiasim and participation in the process to obtain her visa!

3. Failure to retrieve car that is about to be repossed which is in her name That her ex bassically strong armed from her after the marriage between them failed!

4. Request that I sell all of my possessions. Get rid of (home, two cars, job, family) in the US and purchase a home in CR before my retirement at 55! to live with her in CR.

This was not the plans that were discussed in April.
Can not change da rules in da middle of da game Bro

This should be enough info Pac.
Im getting bored with the topic.

Shouldnt it?

One hint when dealing with novias and/or esposas here in CR. NEVER expect them to do what they say. NEVER expect them to live up to an agreement. As a matter of fact, don't waste your time trying to reason with them, it just doesn't work.
The key is to keep the power. If she doesn't live up to a bargain or do what she promises then ignore her. Don't send her money, write her, talk to her or anything else. Then you find out what you mean to her.
If she really likes you and wants a life with you, she will come crawling back begging for forgiveness and wanting back in the good graces. If not, you won't hear from her again. Either way, problem solved....

P.S. All the above is from hard-earned experience BUT YMMV

Thanks 50strokes, that fills in the gaps pretty well.

Prostoner - Great advice, IMHO, but you knew that...

Thanks for the advice Prostoner.

No need for disculpas.
Not my first Rodeo.

Ride em hard and put em away wet!

I am from H Town! The Massage Parlor / Strip Club capital of the USA!

She got off pretty light in comparison to others in CR 8)

Wow PS you sound like my old wingman. :P Never expect her to take care of ANY important business, paperwork or meet any deadlines even though she promises she will. If you seriously expect anything to get done regarding paperwork, cars, lawyers, visas, money, bills being paid on time, etc. plan on getting on a plane to go do it yourself. Surely all Ticas don't behave like irresponsible lazy teenagers but most of the ones CRT guys hook up with seem to.

Actually, that attitude is pervasive in ALL tico life. I've had the same problems with lawyers here and you'd think they would be the most likely to take care of stuff like that!
It's all about keeping the power and making sure all the Ticos/Ticas in your life keep up with the responsiblities they have taken even professional people like doctors/lawyers. If not....
