Pauly always seemed like a pretty good guy. I followed his posts on the board, and after hearing quite a bit about his book on here last year, I figured I would help support a fellow monger and MAYBE get a little entertainment out of it as well.

I bought his book, from my laptop, opened it and said I should probably print this 350+ page book out and read it someday soon.

It never happened. fast forward to the present day...

I was reading about the taipan club and pauly chimes in with a quote from his book which piqued my interest in the book again and I figured it was time to read it. at this point I realized it was on the computer crashed a couple of weeks ago.

I went back to my old emails and found the message with the original download link in it. when I tried to use it, it told me it was expired and I had to request more downloads which I did, including the original porchase date, download code, name, and transaction id. in response, i got this wonderful message:



you would think that a struggling author with no book deal would have a little bit better customer service skills. I already paid $9.95 for a $10 book at best and then I have to use 2/3 of a ream of paper and my own ink to print it out.

I did get the book, as I told all my friends about how they should buy this book and not just email around to each other, which is exactly what I had to have them do to me.

Pauly, you will be selling something again, and I and all my friends will definitely have to think twice before spending our hard earned money on your little projects.

that is all I have to say about that!

OK so you bought a book last year, you didn't read it, and when you went looking for it to read, you couldn't find it. And now you're blaming the author because you lost it. I understand your frustration, but I believe you're not thinking correctly here. The fact that the delivery of the book was done electronically makes no difference. You got your merchandise as promised. If you don't regulary back up your data, and you lose it, it is no no one's fault other than your own. Now, apologize to Pauly.

Pauly has given much FREE to this board...like this CLASSIC, for instance...

You are dead on with your post and Pauly's service to the board. Thanks for including the link to a fantastic post. Before my second trip in Aug '06, I devoured that post and committed it to whatever memory I had left. All excellent info. Indeed, Pauly lists Julie from Idem, my amiga favorita.

we are not in the real world here. all the guy had to do was click one button and let me have another digital copy of what i already paid for. instead, he decided to take time out of his ever so busy day to tell me that he is not in the business of giving shit away for free. but i'm the bad guy here!

i have heard about the book and might get it...all i know is that pauly is a great guy...and when i have had a question or sent him a im he has always got back to me with answers that i needed ..he is a great member !!! so please watch what you say about him....

and what am I? some piece of shit because I want what I paid for? what are you going to do kick me out? we are entitled to our opinions here, I paid my 100 bucks, and my opinion is he ripped me off. your opinion is that I am wrong and I don't know what I'm talking about. I am OK with that. unlike many people here I believe in freedom of speech. I don't think it's my way or the highway like many members on here, but what's right is right.

I said my peace, I made my feelings known, and that's all I really want to say about the matter. Unlike many others, I am not looking for a fight or argument. I said what happened to me, made my feelings know that I was upset about how I was treated by this fine upstanding member and that is all. no more to be said, really. if he chooses to contact me, fine. if not, then that's fine too. it doesn't really matter, i'm just one unsatisfied customer, right?

I understand your side of it, DD. It wouldn't have cost him anything to allow you to download it again. I suspect it might have gone differently if you could have contacted him directly instead of having the company contact him.

I really do see your point. I would have felt that a redo was in order if It were me.
