One Imperial at 1,200 + 2,000 short is about $6.50 for one beer. Therefore, I knew something was wrong with my change regardless of any exchange rate. I don’t know if it was a mistake or intentional, but she wasn’t very friendly as she filled up my hand with a pile of small colones. Just wanted to remind the newbie’s and others not to assume the change they get back is correct.

I always have 1 and 2,000 colone bills handy, if they short change me, then they're just short changing themselves because i usually give the change as a tip (I don't like pockets full of change).

They are well aware that we don't like coins and that's precisely why they give it to us...

Once I received my change from paying for a round of drinks and pulled a couple of 1000 colone bills closer to me.... I just left them there awhile and after about 15 minutes I noticed they were gone... They had assumed that was their tip and dragged it... Since I was entertaining a potential new sex object, I didn't want to be an acehole... 8) 8) 8)

On my first trip I don’t recall ever counting my change from the bartenders. Honestly, I probably would not have known if it was short, since I was still uncomfortable with the money. On my second trip I found some value in counting my change even while entertaining girls. I believe it showed them I could not easily be taken advantage of and that I knew what I was doing. On my last trip a girl I had 4 sessions with insisted on taking me to El Pueblo with her friends on my last night. I was hesitant at first as I had an early morning flight, but she even offered to pay the taxi so I agreed. To my surprise this ended up being the highlight of my trip. This taxi drove all over town picking up 5 other girls and one guy. Everyone piled into this taxi sitting on each others laps it was crazy. Just a side note: I didn’t see what she paid the taxi driver and I don’t think he wanted me to see either. However, when we got to the club she told me it was 8,000 colones for us to get inside. I told her everyone else in line was paying 1,000 and that I would pay 2,000 for me and her to get in. Obviously, she wanted me to pay for her and her friends. Don’t get me wrong I spoiled her in the club buying her all the drinks her little heart could handle. When the night was over we went back to my room and had a great time and I gave her a nice tip. I guess there can be a fine line between being an a** and getting taken advantage of. Anyways, I love this place and am looking forward to my third trip in May.
