Gentlemen,

For those of you who are interested in donating to the orphanage in CR, we have set up a web page that will allow you to do so via Paypal using a credit card or your Paypal account (if you have one).

Here's the link to the page (edited from the original link): http://home.roadrunner.com/~orange/crthelps

PayPal takes a little less than 3%, the rest of your donation will help fund the orphanage projects. Our first project is to upgrade their lunch room. The pictures that are on the page show some of the room.

With the help of Admin1 we are setting this up as a sticky, in the General Information & Announcements so you can find it easily.

There are five members who have agreed to be involved with the disbursements of funds. Three of the five must approve of the disbursement prior to it being given. Once I have their permission, I will post the names. At any time should you have a question, whether it be about the money donated, or anything else, please ask.

We have the opportunity to make a difference in some young peoples lives, who through no fault of their own have little or nothing to look forward to daily. Costa Rica has been very good to me. Please help in giving something back to those who deserve it, the Ch*ldren of Costa Rica. We can make these Ch*ldren's lives better.

Many thanks goes to our good friend, and CRT member Orange, who took his time and expertise to put this page together.

Thank you in advance for you consideration and donations. Should donations be given, I will post the amount collected at least monthly. If possible we will have pictures of what we have accomplished also.

To date one of our CRT members Harvoolio has donated a HD projection TV, and some tables for the lunch room. The computer contractor for the SL donated a screen for the TV. Last year we supplied all 72 Ch*ldren with school supplies. They are very thankful for all that we have done to date.

Any questions, please PM me, or ask on this thread.

Health & happiness to all...

Steve - Santas Bro

We have received the first donation, and thank you so much for your generous contribution. I will not name people on this thread who donate unless they PM me with their authorization. It is greatly appreciated.

From my previous post that had a poll, I understand that many of you do not want to hear about this. It is very clear what this thread is about. Please don't open it if it offends you. Should you choose to flame me, I ask that you do that by PM. Should you have suggestions as to how to make this better, please do that on this thread, or by PM.

This is a milestone for this endeavor, the first donation of hopefully many that will make a difference in some K*ds lives.

Health & happiness to all...

I stand by my previous contention that this effort does not require a majority opinion, or even 10 percent of CRT members to support it.

If only a few members contribute, these K*ds are far better off than if Santa's Bro didn't get this ball rolling in the first place.

And, yes, if you don't want to hear anymore about this topic, yet you were a big enough ass to open this thread, then Phuck off, and don't complain.

CR has given all of us a lot more pleasure than we find at home. I hope many of us find it in ourselves to give back in ways other than donating cash grants to chicas.

Thank you Santa's Bro, and good for you for having the ambition and the balls to use this network to generate some positive effect for these innocent lives.

For those who may not know, Johanna is no longer GM at the SL. From what she has written to me, she is still helping with the new build out though.

We are looking for a way to have an avenue to donate while in CR. At the present, I don't feel good about leaving money at the SL. It's not that I don't trust all at the SL, I just can't be sure your money will be accounted for.

Something that probably would be available is donating clothes, or school supplies directly to the orphanage. The address and phone numbers are on the page for donations, or PM me and we can make arrangements to get the clothes, etc. to them..

As soon as we have an option for donating while in CR, I will post it. It is very important to me that not only all of you know that your money is being spent for the K*ds, but also that they benefit from your generosity.

Thanks to all..

Steve - Santas Bro

Absolutely agree that it should be up. Those who don't want to hear about it, shouldn't open the thread. The title is pretty self-explanatory.

As far as donations go... If each of us gave up 1 session and instead donate that money to this fund, we could do a lot.

I visited the orphanage and chatted with the director. I was the one who took the pictures on the website. The building is really run down, holes in the walls, there's one wall with a huge hole in it (see pic of yellow wall) with live exposed electrical wires within a few feet of the K*ds. They tried to block it off with a big plastic slide, but it's still a danger.

The furniture is falling apart. They need to paint the whole place, there's paint chipping everywhere.

But the K*ds are surprisingly happy and upbeat. I walked into a room where they were eating and about 25 little 4-6 year olds yelled out a big "HOLA". Next time, I'll bring a bag of candy.

We will update the webpage with more photos as we go.

Santa's Bro,
Hope you keep the good will flowing, I made a donation and would like to know if there is " stuff " I could bring on my next trip to help out. Hopefully that would fit into my luggage??? Good thing you are doing Bro hope to meet you one day.

I was asked by Santas Bro to be one the 5 above mentioned individuals for this venture. I am honored to be a part of this gesture started by our brother Steve..

As many of you probably know, many of the members of the CRT racing league started by Shawn4DelRey have donated a penny a point to the orphanage.

Thanks Orange for putting together the web site and giving everyone who would like to an opportunity to contribute and special thanks to Steve/Santas Bro for giving our brotherhood an opportunity to give back in a small way to the community which we enjoy traveling to so much.

Steve, please let me know anything else I can do to be of help.

Great work amigos, sounds like the place needs some repairs. Surely somebody must know a reliable, trustworthy and reasonable contractor that could handle it? Shouldn't take over a week, if I could make a long enough trip I'd handle it myself.
PS
How does a donation show up on a credit card statement- just as Paypal?

Don't quote me on this, but it may say "Paypal crthelps". (When you use your card on Paypal, it usually says "Paypal user's name")

Friends:

I have received inquiries about the five members who have agreed to help with the disbursement of the funds.

I have no heard back from the fifth yet. As soon as he agrees, which he already has when this began, I will add his handle to the list. They are in no particular order:
Orange
El Silencioso
Shawn4DelRey
Santas Bro

I believe that the other four CRT members have a long time of excellent credibility on the CRT board.

I'm just a newbie whose intentions are to hopefully change at least one Ch*ld's life, and make other Ch*ldren's lives better at this moment in time. It is important for me to let all of you know that all of your money (minus the PayPal fee, approximately 3%) is going to be given to the Ch*ldren of Costa Rica.

Something that would be of great help. If one of our members that is living in CR could check on the status of the work (agreed upon by 3 of 5 above prior to starting the project) that we are paying for when it is happening. Being a contractor myself, funds will not be disbursed until each project is completed to our satisfaction, but we need to make sure that it is completed prior to paying. It is possible that we could do this by members who just happen to be in town at the time. I am open to suggestions.

CRT members have expressed a wish to help with other than monetary donations, please do. My wish would be that all CRT members are involved. I don't know what that would look like, but if you have any ideas, please let me know.

In our first week we have over $700.00 in the account for the Ch*ldren. Thanks to all that have given, and to those who have kept a good space in their heart for this endeavor. Your input is greatly desired.

The link for donating is: http://home.nyc.rr.com/crthelps

Health & happiness to all...

Steve - Santas Bro

I have just received the O.K. to post the fifth person for the disbursement of funds:

The five will be:

Mucho Gusto, Orange, El Silencioso, Shawn4DelRey, and Santas Bro.

Many thanks to all that have donated so far.
