I was driving through Passeo Colon from San Pedro last night when I came across a boatload of police, must have been 10 cop cars, a paddy wagon, etc.. it was somewhere around Calle 10 and Avenida 6-10? There was a place called La casa de Tornillo very close by. (had this weird logo with a screw with wings on it...)

Is there an MP near there? What could it have been. Nothing i saw in the papers about it.

My girl told me that when she was on the bus yesterday, there was a lot of traffic because of police activity. There were a couple people murdered in the street, I don't know if it's in that same area though. It was in the late afternoon.

Your directions are a bit confusing. San Pedro is east of downtown. Paseo Colon is on the opposite side west of downtown. Paseo Colon is the continuation of Avenida Central and doesn't start until Calle 14 but you said you think this occurred around Avenida 6-10 and Calle 10. That would place it several blocks south of Paseo Colon and and at least 2 blocks east of where Paseo Colon even starts (ie 2 blocks SE of the Hospital)

Well, I'm still getting my bearings, but I saw signs that said Passeo Colon (shop signs, not street signs). I was heading back from San Pedro on an alternate route, further south of Avenida Central.

I know i passed a sign that said Calle 10, and I believe I was on Avenida 8, since looking at google earth tells me the route i took couldn't have been 10 (the street wasn't that big) and it was a one-way going east.

So sue me if i was a few blocks off ;)

Avenida 8 is one way east to west

Avenida 10 is one way west to east.

If you were coming from San Pedro you were on avenida 8 which is one of the major routes out of the city to La Sabana and points west.
