Members,

My wingman and I will be in CR April 3 for our third trip. Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a day trip from SJO to satisfy our urges in different surroundings. How is Jaco? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Welcome to CRT.

There many options for day trips.

IN my opinion, Jaco isn't really a good one. First, there is NOTHING to do there during the day. The real action is at night. Secondly, the beach isn't much to look at and the water is said to be polluted. Thirdly, it's hot as hell there. It's very uncomfortable.

Go on a tour. You can do the ATV tour, it's a fun one. There's a discount for VIP's. Look on the discounts page for their website.

The other popular one is the Canopy tour (aka zip lines). There is a company that sponsors CRT which offers a discount.

There also all kinds of other activities/tours (white water rafting, 4-in-1, coffee plantations, etc). Your hotel will have tons of brochures near the reception desk.

Just google "costa rica tour companies" and you will get tons of information on various tours and activities along with prices.

Stay in SJO if that's what you want. Otherwise for daytime action elsewhere it's BYOC: bring your own chica.

An alternative to Jaco for a beach daytrip is the Punta Leona resort. Went there yesterday through Expediciones Tropicales, it included a croc cruise on the Rio Tarcoles. The beach there seemed pleasant enough and it wasn't overly hot either (at least for me).

Yeah, there's not much outside of SJO in the day. Jaco at night is OK, but other than that, there's really nothing consistent.
