I have a trip booked for myself and a buddy for April. There is a good chance he might be backing out. If this happens I will go by myself. Has anyone done this trip solo and if so what is the best hotel for this type of trip. I golf during the day and would like to party at night of course. I have stayed at Presidente but am kind of shying away from it this time. Never stayed at Del Rey (can you take more than one chica up to the room?), Never stayed at SL. Now I was thinking DL b/c of the convience of just going to the 1st Floor and never leaving the hotel at night or and SL b/c I am flying solo I can always meet other fellow CTRs and have a beer etc. which is pretty hard at DL. I know this is more of an opinion than a question but does anyone have any insight into this situaion.

Check out La Amistad or Costa Rica Morazon. La Amistad is very friendly, you get a CRT discount and good location.

Many guys who go solo like the SL because a lot of the guests are also CRT and make good wingmen.

But they book well in advance now, so you may want to book soon to get in there in April.

SL gets my vote hands down, you can always find a wingman or guys to hang out with, after all, what else is there :?: :?:

"Con"... I have never understood the "need" for a wingman/buddy to hang with etc. I have always come to SJO to get it on with a bunch of hookers... alone like many others do also. You don't need "no damn wingman" for what goes on here! :D

started out with a wingman, but prefer it solo now. if you stay at SL or amistad you are sure to run into others of your ilk that will glady take you on tours of mp's etc. SL is the best btw 5-7 typically and can be seen from the front door of the amistad.
good luck and remember to have a pen and your passport handy.

I went to CR solo 4 times in 2007. I prefer it that way. I have been to several of the out-of-the-way MPs, and I find that being solo is good - you get the pick of the pack, and sometimes there is only one "doable."

Add me to the solo trippers. On my 11th so far, all have been done solo. Don't see what's so hard about it, nor the need for a wingman--see chica, pick chica, phuck chica, pay chica (or before in an MP). :D Like Berk, I come here to hang out with the chicas, not you guys.

Ditto - or Tritto - or whatever.

I just enjoy talking to new friends for a short time at ZB, then not worrying what my new friends are up to as I select a chica for a spell of fun.

Thanks for the advise,

I agree, the only reason to need the wingman is so your wife does not begin to ask all type of question of why you are going solo. So it looks like SL will be the place.

Thanks,
Conanc

2 trips to CR 2trips to Colombia, both solo, no problem. In CR I stayed at the Castillo, 50 a night chica friendly, easy to meet other mongers there, very quiet. In Jaco I stayed at Balcon del mar, 10 extra a night for a chica, not very chica friendly but right on the beach, pool and resteraunt.

Hiker and Berk,

My 11th trip is coming up in 16 days and I've always made solo trips, insofar as that I've never traveled with anyone. I'm generally a loner, but from my very first trip to SJO, I found that the guys I've met (mostly through CRT) bring an additional element of fun that enhances the entire experience. So while my primary reason for going to Costa Rica is for the chica experience, running into fellas I've gotten to know and like is really a bonus.

After all, even those days when we might have 3 sessions, there is a lot of time to spare. Sure, you can always beat off between sessions, but there is a wealth of information out there from CRTers. Most of them are really good guys, although I've run into a few notable exceptions.

I've also found that if you're going to take a chica out to eat or dancing or drinking, having another couple along is an enhancement rather than a burden. Having bought and paid for the girl, cockblocking becomes rare among the fraternity and a good time is usually had by all.

For the original poster, there is no need to plan your trip with a wingman. However, it never hurts to have someone show you the ropes, IMO.

Ciaociao

Conan,

I made my first trip to CR solo and stayed at the DelRey...no problems and a lot of fun. You'll do alright if you stay at HDR your first trip, too...it's an eye-opener. You'll have your pick of other mongering hotels like Morazan, Amistad, Castillo, Sportmens...and quasi-mongering Hotel Presidente for your next trip There are also a number of lesser-mentioned hotels that tolerate chica guests...just dig through the travel/accommodations archives.

Half of my 14 trips were done solo...in many respects I enjoyed them because I had greater latitude in planning my itinerary and didn't need to negotiate a "plan of the day" on a daily basis. Don't get me wrong...I enjoyed the other trips, too. it's fun to hang with like-minded buddies to help keep you out of trouble (or get you into trouble). Having one or more wingmen also cuts trip expenses through cost sharing (eg rental cars). If you feel the need to seek out CRT members, the bar at SL and the "breakfast club" at the Castillo are good places to start. Although I never made one, there is a happy hour around 5-ish at the Del Rey.

Go enjoy yourself, Mr. Solo... :D
