I hate to do this, but I have to post the honest truth.

I have now waited 7 days since my return with no response to both an e-mail and letter I wrote to Rico regarding my rental service over Valentines weekend.

A little background, I have now used Rico at www.CellularTelephoneRentals.com 8 times over the past year and a half without much incident and have reviewed his services very positively on this board.

I contacted Rico on February 7th with a request for a sim card for MY unlocked phone while in Costa Rica. I mentioned how urgent it was that I receive a phone number prior to my departure for any office emergency I would need to be contacted for. It was necessary to call from the US twice to remind him of this and I received the phone number 3 hours prior to my departure to the airport.

Rico was on time delivering my phone to the hotel of my choice and everything was normal until I was notified later in the day by Don Gordo as well as others that they tried to call me and the calls went directly to voice mail without ringing. I put a call into Rico who informed me that the cell towers are bad in CR and this was normal.  Well I have rented from him 7 times prior and this had never been an issue...The next day I am walking with Don Gordo, Pidd and others when the subject came up again.

I decided ok, let me call Pidd's phone and see what number came up....Guess what, a different phone number than was provided to me by Rico. Needless to say I was livid as I had given this number to both my office and to many friends in CR who were unable to reach me. I spent the next 2 hours re-sending PMs and trying to contact both my office and as many friends as possible to privide the new information.

At the end of my trip, I wrote a very nicely worded e-mail to Rico as well as writing a hand written note with the returned sim card for him to pick up at the hotel. I have yet to hear a response on either.

Just a heads up to those I recommended his services to. I will most likely be using alternative services in the future.

I used a driver by the name of Carlos a few times on my recent trips. He rents cell phones for $10 a day with free calls anywhere CR.
He was a nice guy to deal with.

His contact info is:

phone # 879-2500

email tvtimecr@hotmail.com

This is the same Rico who ran costaricasex, yes? Hardly a good reference, even if it did result in this site being created.

Yes it is the same Rico. Besides the cell phone service he has Inside Costa Rica New Letter, Advanti limo service, an on again off again dating service and maybe others things as well.

I think it is not only a reach but somewhat disingenuous to use the demise of CRS, four years ago, as an indictment of his business interests today.
