Hotel Presidente, some people like the Del Ray itself. You don't need to overanalyze this one.

AK,
Welcome to the board.

For your first trip, you may want to stay at Sportsmens or Del Rey. If you want the Sportsmens, book now because I'm sure it's already filling up.

The Prez has very nice rooms, but they have some rules (dress code, one girl-at-a-time, many girls are banned, etc) that may interfere with your ability to have a great time.

Walking distance does not matter because you WILL BE taking cabs at night, even if it's from the Presidente. I don't think $2 is worth risking your life. You should not be walking around at night AT ALL, especially in the area around the Del Rey.

I'd go with Sportsmens for your first trip, or DR if they are booked. In subsequent trips, once you know your way around better, you can pick and choose.

April is the start of the rainy ("green") season. It rains pretty much daily anywhere from 30 minutes to all day, varies. But the rain is usually not bad. You can stay indoors (bars, MP's, lunch, etc) when it rains. Rain is not a major issue.

Your TO-DO list:
-Book your hotel
-Get a VIP membership
-Read as much as you can in the various sections of this board, especially the Newbie section
-Do searches to answer specific questions before posting them to the members
-Read this post: https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16357
-Have a great fucken time

Ak,

The BLUE MARLIN is the bar inside the DEL REY. The Del Rey is GROUND ZERO for the action. I think it would be a good idea for you to stay at the Del Rey since it seems this is your first trip. Yes, the PRESIDENTE is within walking distance of the DEL REY/BLUE MARLIN; only several blocks away. April or May would be a good time to go.

AK,

The vets have spoken. Read, read, read . . . and then read some more. My wingman and I spent about three months combing this board before our first trip and nothing proved more valuable. By doing so you will note recurring themes . . . places that get consistently good reviews and have for years, tips on how to stay safe, tips on how to avoid heartache and disappointment, who's fun to spend time with.

By all means, invest in a VIP membership. The $39.00 fee will come back to you threefold, fivefold or even more when you book your first stay in CR.

Nothing like your first trip! Have fun doing your research.

One block from the BM, in the same block as the KL, reasonable rates, no chica fees. Sounds like the Hotel Morazan fits your needs perfectly.

Hey AK!

Welcome to the forum.

There are several hotels which are chica friendly and close proximity to the Blue Marlin Bar in the Hotel del Rey. First of course is the del Rey itself... some guys don't like the $10.00 per chica per visit surcharge. It's cool because you can find chicas virtually 24/7...and they're all just an elevator ride away. :D Furthermore, the del Rey is close to other venues for hunting poon, such as the Key Largo bar (live music, many nice chicas and numerous ugly ones), the Monkey Bar and the New York Bar.

Less than a block west of the HDR is the Costa Rica Casino Hotel Morazan. Good room rates, chica friendly, watch out for the fast-talking Ricardo (bellman).

One block directly south of the del Rey then diagonal is the Hotel Presidente. As has been mentioned, they have a dress code for chicas, a one-cchica per room visit limit, and some girls have been banned from there for offenses ranging from theft to high drama to simply forgetting to return a visitor badge required by the hotel. On the other hand, it has WIFI, many amenities, a great restaurant (News Cafe) on premises, A.C. and other niceities.

Hotel Zona Blue: If you could book all four rooms, it might be a fun first place to stay. Expensive, but as of now hotel guests get 1 hour sessions with the girls from the massage parlor for $20.00 plus tips. :)

V.I.P. members get room discounts at the Sportsmen's Lodge. This frat house for the jaded has a great feel to it. The rooms in the new section are as good as anything else you'll find downtown. Bar/restaurant is open 8:00 a.m. - midnight, 7 days a week... and local working girls seem to enjoy visiting there.

Hotel La Amistad is right up the hill and around the corner from the SL. Very chica-friendly, a short cab ride to the del Rey. The hotel has recently been equipped with memory-foam mattresses, the staff is great and their remodeling projects are nearly complete. CRT members get a discount here, too. Join V.I.P.!

Hotel Castillo, right around the corner SW of the Sportsmen's has a great CRT rate. Join V.I.P.! Nice bar/restaurant on premises, chica-friendly, working girls on-site.

Hotel Clarion Amon Plaza: Contact Nixon at the casino for a great rate and waiving of chica fees. Good breakfast, modern rooms... more of an American-style business class hotel.

I'm sure others will chime in. Do your reading, but if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Your CRT bros are happy to help. :D

IMHO, Sportsmen's is the best place for a first trip. Its a 3 minute cab ride to the HDR, and has its own bar with its own action that is very laid back. It is very much like this board - filled with guys of varying backgrounds and experiences all there for the same reason. I have stayed there twice, and the times I stayed elsewhere, I regretted it.

I agree. The problem here for AK might be that he needs two rooms in April/May... and the SL is often booked months in advance. The Sl is my first choice. :D But if rooms there aren't available there, two other hotels in the same neighborhood are also quite good.

Fortunately, both the Amistad and Castillo are close enough to the SL so that one can still enjoy the very enjoyable "neighborhood bar" there. Furthermore, all three hotels are a $1.50 taxi ride to/from the del Rey. Also, I think the breakfast included in the room rate is better at the Amistad. :D
