Sometimes I think it would be nice if WAL-MART got into the airline business....."Everyday low prices." :)

E G

In my humble opinion you booked WAY too early. Just as a heads up, Airlines LOVE the people who book months in advance when the pricest are at the highest, when it gets within a month of the flight and it is 25% full prices tend to come down..at least I know this is the case from Chicago.

I have seen 2 week deals out of Dallas better than $500. Most of the Dallas members I have the honor of knowing and calling friends pay higher prices that I do due to the AA monopoly but often find prices in the $400-550 range

Keep checking the board, you have a lage group down in Dallas who regularly post about airline specials from DFW

Anouther note El Gringo, If you by chance booked on AA keep an eye on fares as you date approaches. If the fare drops for your flights they will credit you the difference but you have to call and ask. I agree closer to travel dates is a better time to buy. Most good sales I have seen have been about 30 to 90 days out from Dallas.rbc100

RBC,
I posted about AA's new rules for refunds on a thread a few weeks ago. New AA rule: They will only refund the difference in airfare if it's more than $100 difference. Because they are charging $100 to re-ticket your itinerary, with a new Record Locator Number. So basically, if you find a flight for $150 cheaper than you paid, you will have to completely re-book your identical itinerary, and they'll refund you $50. They're making it tougher....

Based on my experience....there is some good advice above.

FOR EXAMPLE:
If you were to book a flight at this time, for a trip to San Jose from WASH/DULLES, for a trip in June..most likely USAIRWAYS would list a price in the $600 range. However, if you were to book this flight about 2 months prior to the trip....most likely it would be in the $300 range. A good test of this is to NOW check the price on the same flight, but instead of using a June departure date, use an April departure date. Usually the price will be in the $300 range.

USAIRWAYS, as well, seems to have made some changes to its policy of offering credit vouchers when a price drops, similar to what was mentioned above.

Delta's sale fares certainly don't apply to flights out of Boston going through Atlanta. I just booked with AA for an April to July trip and the fare was significantly less.
