AA strikes again!
I scheduled a 3-night trip to Panama before heading to SJO on the 15th, and as an experiment decided to try AA from MIA. Big mistake, as the flight (959) on Tuesday got phucked up big time. First the plane (A300) is at least two hours late arriving from Orlando. Boarding finally starts at 8:00, two hours after the 6:10 scheduled departure. AC on the plane isn't working. More delay, then an announcement that someone who had checked a bag had left the flight, so the bag has to be pulled. So furthur delay...then a lot of people wanted to get off the plane. Announcement says that if anyone does that, then their bags will also have to be pulled, resulting in more labor which would push the crew's time past their legal maximum, so a new crew would have to be brought in. Doesn't matter, even more people want to leave. So sometime after 9:00 the flight is cancelled...er "rescheduled" for 9 am the next day. Everyone gets off and gets gets a voucher for a hotel, and buses are supposed to be here to pick everyone up.
Most of us were sent to the Hyatt Regency Weston. No sign of any buses. By around 11:30 there still were no buses or shuttles of any kind, so I decided to take a cab. I, not knowing a thing about the Miami area, figured the hotel was close by. A $110 cab ride later, with two wrong turns, I realized Weston is 15-20 miles away.

Long slow line at check-in, finally got into bed just after 1:00 am. Nice place though.

Have to get up early because buses again are supposed to pick us up for the airport at 6:00...they don't show up until 7. Flight delayed an hour to wait for the crew. Finally takes off at 10:30.
And so ends the MIA experiment. I'll return from SJO via DFW.
