Are you sure? My friend had a problem there less than a month ago, how recent was the staff change? I think the reservations that get "lost" are the ones when people arrive late at night and they have some one willing to offer more money earlier in the evening than the "reserved/confirmed" discount rate.

I dont' understand your reasoning. You still need a coupon? You stated with newspaper its 35 + tax, and at the hotel its 41 + tax. Thats a $6 difference.

however, CaptainMike2007 stated:

...You never need a coupon, anymore, the price is posted on the wall. It's either $35 in the paper plus tax, which equals $41 or at the hotel it's posted as $41 including tax.

There is a coupon in the Tico Times every week offering 35.00 weekday and 40.00 weekends. You have to add the 16.39% tax to both rates. Normally they do not require you to actually present the coupon just mention it.

I stayed at the Morazon the last 2 nights of my last trip. Although it is not the Presidente or SL, I will stay there again because of the location. Also the noise (I was in 200) didn't bother me much, but the cigarette smoke was a minor problem late at night. Very similiar to staying at the DR but cheaper.

The safes work great but it is a key safe. I much prefer a combination safe. I believe that I will book my next trip at this hotel because of the location and price.

You did not say what email address you used. The one I have used is info@costaricamorazan.com. Sometimes they reply sometimes not but email delivery in Costa Rica can be spotty so who knows what they receive and what just goes off in cyber space

Best way to contact them is by phone 011-506-222-4622

Hmm...I have emailed Casa Vino, Zona Blue, DelRey in the past and have always gotten a prompt reply. I used the email you referenced which is the one I actually got from this post. I guess I will try calling them. Thanks

I emailed Morozan also for booking in April. No reply from them also so I booked with Freebird for my stay. Freebird replied promptly with confirmation. They're slightly pricier than Morozan but their accommodation reviews appear to be top-notch.

I started to make a net reservation today at the Morazon. Then I read the line above that said " do not use this form, call us". So I did and got the Tica Times "special".

$41 including the tax sounds like a great rate. What do they charge for the room safe? If the rooms clean and it has a bar right in the hotel, its looking pretty good to me. Food I can get anywhere.

$3 a day extra for key safe. A lot of tico and ticas in the bar until 8 am in the morning still partying. Every table in the bar was full of Imperials and full ashtrays and drunken locals.

Are some of the local gals willing to trudge upstairs to the gringo room, or are they just hanging with the local crowd? Is it a mix of locals and tourists both in the rooms and the bar?

The locals who gather at the Morazan, very early in the morning, are night shift workers from the casinos and hotels in the area relaxing after work. Most are not going to go to your room especially when with a group of co-workers. As in any situation there are always exceptions but they are few and far between
