There is such a high incidence of improper use of some words/grammar on this site it drives me batty. I wish people could learn how to use:

• Your vs. you’re

• There, their, they’re; and

• Apostrophes. Why do some of you think that every phucking word that ends in an “s” deserves an apostrophe? Example ‘I went to the DR to check out the chica’s”

Get it right, will ya? …….And it is not jut DougPI……

OK – sorry for the rant – but PLEASE! This shit is annoying.

At the risk of offending the "grammar police" I believe the information exchanged here is more important than the grammatical correctness of the post.

no offense taken.

Maybe this bugs me more than most.

I write/review writing for a living and am grateful for whatever valuable information gets posted - regardless of grammar.

   thanks for the comic relief. Maybe I've had a long day dealing with BS and my attitude made the leap to CRT. I didn't mean to make waves.

I hardly expect Hemingway-esque quality of writing on a monger site, but I think Crookedcr has a point in that if you bother to use easily available tools such as a spell checker, etc., it will in many cases get your information across more effectively and lessen chances of your points being misunderstood.

Writing well is never a bad thing...

Yeah - I agree. Maybe I am more anal than most but when I run into what is a typical junior high mistake, it is hugely distracting to me and I don't focus as well on the point of the missive.

Anyway, I didn't mean to make no problems for mongers and they're posts loaded with gould information.

This is a pet peeve of mine... I can't believe how many people who speak english as a first language can't actually use it properly.

Perhaps that speaks volumes about the quality of education in United States schools.

This is an interesting point. We come from such a varied background of education and profession. I hate to possibly intimidate anyone, thinking that they may not post for fear of making a grammar error. Many of us do not write often and don't practice our skills. The use of a spelling checker is helpful and I don't know how I'd get along without it, but grammar checkers are cumbersome.

What really gets me is that there isn't one person on this board that knows that "phucking" is spelled with an F.

Irish Drifter may recall which former Hurricanes QB gave this quote after a (then) rare UM loss, but it was not a proud day for the English department:
"We didn't get no chance to see no films."

I can't recall if it was Testaverde or Toretta, but I suspect the former as it likely came in response to Viny's loss to Penn State.
