Just curious to see what you all have to say. I can extend it a few days, assuming more room night are available at SL (already booked)

After two trips under my belt I made three, three-day trips to CR and had a blast each time. Being your first trip, go to either SL or ZB and you will easily find a wingman who will teach you the ropes and show you the way. You can have a hell of a lot of fun in three days if someone shows you around.

I don't think 3 days is enough for a first trip. It'll be deep into day 2 before you start to feel comfortable. It will take you a few days to figure out which venues are you're type of place and which are not. I'd say 5 or 6 days at the minimum is needed. Once you know the lay () of the land, you can get away with a 3-dayer.

Have to agree with Orange on this one, On my 1st trip 3 years ago (6 nights) I hooked up with some great vets and still did not get my tongue off the floor until my 2nd day at least...

I would recommend extending if you can, even if it means moving over to the Amistad or Clarion Amon for a couple days, trust me, you will be glad you did, on the 4th day on your way home you will be slapping yourself if you don't...  I promise you that...

I am in process now of TRYING to plan trip # 17 in about 2 1/2 weeks I think this will be the 1st one ever under 5 days.....

Have fun

Considering the first day was a blur for me a couple extra days would be nice for your first trip.

Considering how trashed most people get their first night in CR, I would schedule two hangover days 8)

Jchj,
Welcome to CRT.
The most important thing you can do before your trip is:
READ, READ, READ everything on this site.

You'll hit the ground running and wonder where the 3 days went.

This is a heck of a resource for a newbie monger... I'll keep this crew posted to my luck - or lack of it...

Jchj – in 2003 I went down for a ten day trip. It was over before I knew it…

2004 I spent 44 days in Costa Rica. It all went by too fast.

2005 I lived in CR for 83 days. See a pattern going on here?

2006 I was there for 119 days,

2007 I spent about 16 weeks in CR and expanded my horizons exponentially;

So far this year, I’ve been There way more than I’ve not been, with return ticket in hand. IMO - Take the couple extra days if you can, and be prepared for the fact that you might love it as much as a lot of us do.

Buen viaje – Good Voyage!

3 days is plenty if you live in the south (airfare is so much and time to get there isn't so long). The further you get north, more days are necessary to make the trip worth it.

I usually find 7 days of hard mongering & I am fried. I have to take a break from the gulch traveling around the country visting friends of mine that live their for 7 days or so then I repeat another week of hardcore mongering. This is a nice balance for me.

I like to spend 2-4 days in SJ doing what us boys do. Then I rent a 4x4 and spend 3-4 days doing the eco thing at different places. I then return to SJ for a couple of days and then go home refreshed and relaxed.

If I only had three days , I would not drink. I would drop my bags at SL and be at the ZB withing minutes. I would go back to SB for a one hour power nap and then go right back to ZB for the second of the day. Then back to SL and hang with the guys and get something to eat and then go to the Del Rey to find my third of the day. My first trip , I dropped my bags at the Morazon and was straight to the Del Rey. I did one lap found a suitable candidate and was right back at the Rey. I did two girls in under an hour. and the 3 and 4 later that day. But to tell you the truth the rest of the trip was a little blury and I regret that.
