Why are people willing to pay a $25 chica fee just to be near the Del Ray? Why not just stay a little farther away and pay a few bucks for a cab ride? I don't think I would want to be walking around near the Sleep In at night anyway.

I dont know, it wouldnt be worth it to me. Course some of these guys go back and forth 5 times a day in the area, so maybe that balances out. I dont like the general idea of chica fee anyway, but maybe it makes for a better hotel atmosphere in general? They must have some reason.

Hotel costs and spending habits in general differ greatly among individuals thats for sure. Some people will spend 50 bucks for a room and then go spend 50 bucks in a bar, total $100. Another guy spends $80 on a room, skimps in the bar and drinks in his room, total $100.

One guy spends $75 for a HDR gal (he will NEVER pay cien!) and then gives up $25.00 chica fee to the Presidente; another guy coughs up $100 at HDR but takes her to the Amistad because he will be damned if he will pay chica fees....

There's only 3 kinds of people in the whole world, those who can ADD and those that CAN'T! 55% of all statistics are WRONG! A dollar ain't worth shit until you spend it...and by then it's only worth 75 cents.

You better wait in the car; the beach is sandy!

Unless something has changed recently, the Pres. has no Chica fee --- or maybe you were just using that as an example to make your point, which is a good one. It all comes down to how one wants to spend his money and if everyone had the same prefrences, there would only be one HUGE hotel in SJ

I guess I would rather spend my money on the girl than a hotel. I wouldn't feel right giving a girl $50 and then giving a hotel $25 to hold onto her license.

Johnarizona,

The Presidente has a dress code as opposed to a chica fee. In a way it is even worse because it isn't clear what is acceptable or not. At least with a fee you always know what to expect. With the dress code you never know if they are going to let the girl into your room or not.

Agreed, a dress code is worse, you are stuck always wondering if she will "pass" the test, and my experience with things like that is that depending on who is on-duty, the test varies. Who the needs the hassle, I am on vacation, I not going to deal with nonsense like that.

In fact as I have gotten older and closer to retirement I dont want anyone messing with me about any b.s. If there is b.s. involved, I'm outta there. If the person is a hassle, they are out of my life. I'm thru putting up with people just so I can safely get my pay. Other than things where you just have no choice, for example you have to put up with certain things or you cant fly on airplanes, Im not taking anymore shit in life you might say.

No more ties, no more cell phones that I "must" answer if the boss calls, all that b.s. is over or kept to a minimum. You decide who can come to my room?, I DONT stay at your hotel. Case Closed.

As Johnarizona says, you add up everything (not just costs, though) and decide which fits you the best. No, I don't like paying a $25 chica fee. Yes, I like the proximity of The Sleep Inn to the DR. I have standards as to a hotel and The Sleep Inn fits my requirements. As I said, for $188 I'm getting a very nice room in, what I believe is, a prime location, with a free buffet breakfast and an exercise facility, which is very important to me. And free transportation from the airport. I am not trying to push The Sleep Inn on anyone. I plan to visit the SL on this trip to see what it is like.

BTW, what hotel do you feel comfortable walking around outside at night? From the SI, I exit the casino door, wak a few feet, and I am at the DR.

I feel comfortable walking around most hotels at night. I just don't wander too far. The Sleep In just happens to be near the park where I see alot of TS's hanging out. If you stick close to the buildings and don't wander about it should be fine.

I stayed at the Amistad this trip and was pretty happy with it. I could easily walk to the SL. A cab ride to the Del Ray was 600c to 2000c depending on the honesty of the taxi driver. I had a free breakfast but I am not sure if they have an exercise facility. I think there are other Hotels around there as well.
